General information

Short Summary
A French SME has set up and manages collection networks for used fishing nets made in polyamide. Once at the factory, nets are recycled using a mechanical process to obtain a new raw material that is both technical and meets the challenges of CSR. The product is a rPA6 100 sourced from nets with a complete traceability from ports to pellets. Supplier agreements are sought with plastic injection industries or brands marketing plastic products, wishing to improve their circular economy strategy.
Full Description
The French SME based in Britany (North West part of France) is the supplier of a singular and sustainable plastic: recycled polyamide 6 and 100% sourced from discarded fishing nets locally collected (40 partner ports spread over 4 metropolitan regions).

To ensure the quality and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) value of the material, the company works on two main sides (upstream sector at the level of the deposit in the ports + more traditional side recycling process). In order to secure the sourcing and ensure the good quality of the nets, the company has operational roles on the harbours and collecting networks.

The French SME has its own recycling factory to warrant the following steps:
1/ sorting plastic materials
2/ grinding to reduce fillets into small fibres
3/ melt the crushed fibres to make recycled material pellets.

The company has a full mechanical recycling process. The first steps are made directly in the factory with a part of social-supported employees. The nets are sorted to be shredded into short fibres. These two steps are very important to guarantee the quality traceability and processability of the extruder. The extrusion and pelletisation (raw pellets) process is the end of the recycling step. The fibres are melted in the machine to obtain the final pellets.

The French company is looking for supplier agreements with partners supplier agreements with partners who are looking for high-performance technical plastic materials that are more eco-responsible.
