General information

Short Summary
The Italian company developed a range of lube free pneumatic engines with capacity from 0,2 to 20 kW, which can be powered by heated air or gas, thus reaching a performance similar to the one of a gas turbine engine. The company is looking for agents and distributors under commercial agreement.
Full Description
The Italian company developed an innovative engine that combines the kinetic and pressure action of gas or steam, offering both the advantages of turbines and volumetric engines powered by pressurized fluids. The pneumatic engine can be powered with compressed air, gas or vapours with pressures up to 8 bar and temperatures up to 250°C. Feeding at temperatures above 50°C allows for considerable savings in gas or air.

The dynamic action of the flow and the pressure acting on the vanes that move with the rotor at a significantly lower rotation speed than turbines, with consequent advantages in terms of dynamic balance, vibrations, durability and compactness make the engine particularly efficient and economical. ATEX certified, it operates at a rotation speed between 1,500 and 1,600 r.p.m (revolutions per minute). Expandable within wider margins (from 750 to 2,500 r.p.m.), based on the operating conditions foreseen to satisfy loads characterized by variable speeds and torques.

The self-lubricating engine is made with a sealing system capable of withstanding the operating conditions foreseen for feeding by pressurized fluids such as cold or hot gases and vapours of superheated organic fluids to be used in an Organic Rankine Cycle (O.R.C.)

By controlling the pressure and volumetric flow rate of the feed flow, it can be used for mixers, lifting systems and traction units in environments subject to explosion risk. In case of excess electricity production from renewable sources, it is possible to accumulate cold compressed air. When there is demand for electricity, this compressed air, suitably heated using heat exchangers or solar concentrators to increase its volume, powers the engine which is directly connected to an alternator that generates electricity with high efficiency.

This engine can be an effective solution for recovering the waste heat available in several industries by making use of heated compressed air. Waste heat, which can be recovered at no cost, reduces the amount of compressed air needed to operate the engine.
Advantages and Innovations
The main features of this engine are:
i. COMPACT: smaller than an electric motor of the same power.
ii. SCALABLE: can be tailored according to the needs of the customer and the amount of recoverable heat.
iii. CLEAN: powered by recovered energy without the need for lubricants.
iv. 24/7: designed to operate all around the clock with minimal interruptions.
v. FULLY RECYCABLE at the end of its 20 years life cycle.

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
The ideal partner should be agents or distributors. The company considers commercial agreements for its distribution.

Distributors have the opportunity to extend their portfolio with an innovative engine, which generates competitive advantage.

Companies that trade traditional pneumatic engines and manufacturer of compressors are also considered.
