General information
- Short Summary
- A managed service enabled by a unique IoT hardware and software technology stack, which enables IoT data provisioning at a fraction of time and cost compared to other approaches, without worrying about the underlying technological complexities. Whether you are a business, an organization or a research group and want to embed new IoT technologies into your processes or offered products, the service will accelerate the path from pilot stage to full-scale deployment.
- Full Description
-
IoT technology delivers substantial value across virtually all verticals. In agriculture, it optimizes farm processes; in industrial production, it facilitates automation and digitalization; and in infrastructure management, it enables effective monitoring of electrical grids and pipelines, among other applications. Despite its potential, adopters face several hurdles, with existing technologies often falling short in rapid testing and scalability, lacking the flexibility to meet the unique requirements of each IoT project, and struggling to ensure reliable connectivity in remote locations.
Our business offer is revolutionizing the development, deployment, and integration of IoT solutions across various sectors, addressing the specific challenges organizations face. By transforming traditional IoT project development into a fully managed service, we enable organizations of any size to seamlessly implement IoT technologies.
The bundled service includes two key elements:
• The IoT Connectors: A set of modular hardware components that transform sensors into intelligent end-points. This connector is empowered by universal connectivity, integrating best-in-class wireless technologies.
• The Cloud Platform: A comprehensive system that orchestrates endpoint management and data provisioning. It is equipped with a suite of tools and interfaces designed to automate and consolidate the services offered.
Our IoT data provisioning service is elevated by integrating the latest low-power direct device-to-satellite technologies into our hardware and software stack. These technologies allow us to deploy in-situ IoT sensors across the globe where terrestrial connectivity is lacking, while maintaining reasonable complexity, hardware size, under moderate project costs moderate.
The main differentiating points compared to other commercial solutions are:
• The hardware architecture is designed for maximum flexibility. When integrating a new, unsupported sensor into an IoT project for a new user requirement, a corresponding sensing module can be easily designed and added to the current portfolio.
• Device intelligence relies on our embedded software, hosted on the IoT connector. This software manages essential functions such as sensor triggering, local data collection, net-work connection, and cloud data transmission. The codebase is open-source, allowing expert users to customize it according to their specific needs. For non-expert users, a pre-built software version automates the steps required to implement an IoT application.
• The management platform, currently hosted on a public cloud infrastructure goes beyond baseline functionalities like fleet diagnostics, remote configuration, and IoT data storage, as it can also connect to external systems via specialized plugins and pull additional data.
The service has been already used in several commercial and innovation projects:
• Connecting remote beehives, for periodically monitoring and reporting honey production (weight) and environmental conditions.
• Optimizing agricultural production and processes, by offering cost-effective soil, meteorology and spray control tools.
• Ensuring good workspace quality, through 24/7 indoor air-quality control tools & occupancy prediction models using gas sensors.
• Incentivizing Recycling, by tracking disposable plastic litter.
• Controlling professional machines, by monitoring industrial PLCs and systematically tracking their usage profiles.
• Optimizing buildings resource usage, though monitoring and acting upon daily energy, water, gas consumption measurements, meeting sufficient indoor comfort levels.
• Monitoring critical infrastructures like road networks, mines and the energy grid.
Overall, our offering introduces all the necessary technological elements to get a measurable return of investment from IoT data. - Advantages and Innovations
-
Although the IoT market opportunities are clearly countless, “average” practices used by a lot of IoT technology providers discourage IoT adopters to invest in IoT solutions, eventually limiting the uptake potential of the technology. Today’s main challenges and common pitfalls are:
• IoT is a non-core area for almost every adopter.
• IoT hardware-only or Platform-only providers fail to address real-world client requirements.
• Non “end-to-end” IoT solution offerings suffer from fragmented support.
• IoT projects scope are too broad.
The specific offering brings in significant innovations in the way IoT is delivered to the customers. The product’s end-to-end managed service nature is at the epicenter. This business proposition couldn’t reach the market without an underlying IoT technology stack which excels in:
• Tightly coupling the necessary IoT elements, being hardware-, firmware- or platform-related, allowing to develop a new IoT project from scratch, without re-inventing the wheel. Regardless of the IoT vertical where the technology is applied, the end-user needs to have a common way to enable IoT data collection and actuation in the field, without worrying about the internal technicalities.
• Streamlining custom design and maintenance, supporting the customer from project conception, through prototyping and pilot testing, to final full-scale deployment steps. A flexible hardware and software architecture facilitates the development of tailor-made end solutions using reasonable time and budget resources.
• Natively supporting different project sizes, scaling deployments from a few prototypes up to hundreds of production endpoints while keeping up with increasing volumes of IoT data at the platform level. - Stage of Development
