Full Description
A Dutch innovative start-up has worked on the perfect recipe for artisanal and circular textile dyes from seaweed for the last 10 years.
The company is founded in the summer of 2020 to further develop the prototype of the seaweed dye recipe and introduce it to the textile market.

There is now a proof of concept that has been offered to the international textile industry and tested against industry standards.

They currently work with seaweed directly from the seaweed farmer and various residual flows from the food and cosmetics industry. This is to achieve a circular product.
Portugal has a lot of seaweed farmers and a lot of seaweed that washes up on the beaches. Also Portugal has a lot of textile manufactorers. The company is looking for a textile and seaweed netwerk which is interested in eco-friendly textile coloring with seaweed.

The company wishes to establish a long-term collaboration under a commercial agreement, outsourcing agreement, supplier agreement, investment agreement
or research and development cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
Textile is a large and polluting industry. Especially synthetic dyes are a threat to our health and environment because of the dangerous chemicals that they often contain. The company believes seaweed is an answer to this problem since it doesn't require fresh water, agricultural land, or chemicals to grow. It purifies CO2 and produces oxygen. Different industries understood this potential and have started using this beautiful material, like food and cosmetics.

Advantages:
- Reduce footprint
- Traceable dye
- Biobased and seaweed grow rapidly
- Large volumes possible
- No use of land or freshwater to grow
- Chemical & pesticide-free dye
- Biodegradable

So the innovation is processing an unused stream into a usable product, in their case a dye.
