General information

Short Summary
Horizon Europe project leader seeks partners to complete a consortium aiming at collaborative R&D for next generation diamagnetic, ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials. The project’s main objective is to create new materials with magnetic characteristics (diamagnetic, ferromagnetic and paramagnetic) for a Magnetic Induction-based new industrial process. These materials must also allow inserting sensors and must acquire properties derived from the application of Morphing technologies.
Full Description
The company leading the project is internationally operating capital goods company specializing in the Pulp and Paper sector. its latest R&D initiative aims to pioneer a revolutionary technology for a New Paper Production Industrial Process, with a particular focus on developing a cutting-edge Drying Process. This innovation seeks to fully electrify the drying stage, achieving a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of paper machines and substantially enhancing the sustainability of the overall industrial process. The project main goals are:
1. Technological Advancement: To integrate advanced materials and embedded technologies for improved performance and monitoring.
2. Cost Efficiency: To design a process with lower production costs and reduced capital investment requirements, ensuring economic feasibility.
3. Sustainability: To establish a fully sustainable industrial process that dramatically reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Finally, as Innovative Approach of the project it will incorporate the use of novel "smart" materials with specific characteristics activated within a magnetic environment. These materials will serve as passive components in the mechanical configuration of the process and must be:
• Technologically Advanced: Developed to adapt their technical properties for seamless integration into the process.
• Economically Viable: Reasonably priced to prevent unnecessary increases in installation costs.
• Sensor-Enabled: Capable of embedding sensors within their structure to provide real-time data on key process parameters without requiring additional measurement devices.

The culmination of this project will deliver a transformative industrial process that is not only environmentally responsible but also cost-effective and technologically superior. By leveraging smart materials and innovative design, this project aims to set a new benchmark for sustainable and efficient paper production processes globally.
Advantages and Innovations
The main innovation of the project consists of the definition and design of the new Magneto-active materials that integrate certain desirable technical characteristics that easy the maintenance and collection of data from the Industrial Process. As far as the advantages are concerned, the following can be mentioned:
1. Decarbonization of an Industrial Process that demands a large amount of fossil fuels
2. Reduction of production cost
3. Increased competitiveness of the product in the market

This partnership presents an outstanding opportunity to be at the forefront of developing transformative technologies, contributing to sustainable industrial practices, and shaping the future of the paper production process.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
The Basque company is seeking a collaborative partner with proven expertise in the development and manufacture of magneto-active materials to join this innovative R&D project that represents a significant technological advancement in the paper production industry.
