General information

Short Summary
A UK company specialising in high-performance electric hub motors (e-hubs) for off-highway vehicles seeks agritech partners, particularly robotic operators, (e.g., robotic fruit picking) for field trials. These trials will demonstrate performance, assess cost-benefit impact, and optimise e-hub use in next-gen electric and autonomous machinery. The company seeks partners to:
• Trial e-hubs in real-world conditions.
• Compare efficiency vs. traditional systems.
• Gather data to refine performance
Full Description
The need for ‘one box’ integrated units with gearbox, motor, motor controller and brake were identified whilst the founders were leading the design and development of fully autonomous tractors. A family of drive units addressing this need was proposed for a £0.5m Innovate project.
Following a successful project outcome, the company was incorporated in 2021. Innovation is at TRL6-7. Their fully integrated e-hubs replace axles, differentials, and gearboxes, simplifying design, improving efficiency, and enhancing manoeuvrability.
The company’s one-box hub unit provides high-torque, durable, integrated drivetrains for off-highway electric and autonomous vehicles. The bolt-on design enables direct chassis or suspension mounting, connecting electrically with nominal 48-volt power and a communications port. Each e-hub is controlled independently, enabling full control of the speed and torque of each wheel.
The anticipated collaborative project will address the problem of traditional drives used within the agritech sector and compare the increased effectiveness of the one box drive solution.
Advantages and Innovations
Pioneering integrated drive technology – deep expertise in the development of technology drive systems, developing integrated drive solutions to improve vehicle efficiency, durability, and performance.

Optimised for performance and durability – unlike conventional solutions the unique ‘one-box’ design reduces parts duplication, vehicle complexity, weight, and costs, with a shortened time to market, while enhancing vehicle control.

Scalable and versatile – the solution is adaptable across multiple off-highway sectors, including agritech, construction, and industrial automation, addressing key industry challenges such as labour shortages, productivity, and sustainability.

Agricultural enabler - it will enable agriculture to reliably automate and address the food industry staffing and supply shortages as it allows farmers to automate labour intensive activities such as picking.

Key Features:
• Engineered for high-speed, high-torque, off-highway use.
• Reduces vehicle R&D costs and time to market.
• Compact ‘one-box’ driveline optimises vehicle layout for maximum efficacy and commercial viability.
• Mechanical neutral for easy vehicle movement without power.
• Dual-input emergency brake for independent safety control.
