The Klaipeda Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network partners in Japan, is organizing a business mission to EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan. The mission aims to promote cooperation between Lithuanian and Japanese companies through participation in EXPO events, B2B meetings, and site visits to key industrial and logistics facilities. The program includes engagements with local government and business representatives, as well as cultural and innovation-focused exhibitions. In preparation, a remote seminar was held with Prof. Keith Jackson to help Lithuanian participants understand Japanese business culture and improve communication skills for building sustainable partnerships.

Description
The Klaipeda Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) partners in Japan, is organizing a business mission to EXPO 2025 in Japan. The 2025 World Expo returns to Osaka after a 20-year hiatus and will be held from April 13 to October 13 on the artificial island of Yumeshima. The exhibition will feature more than 50 national pavilions, showcasing countries' achievements in various fields, including innovation, culture, technology, and the environment. The main theme of the exhibition is “Creating a Future Society for Our Lives.”
The Lithuanian business delegation will participate in EXPO 2025 for several days. During their visit, they plan to meet with representatives from the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lithuanian officials, and attend the “Smart City Solutions” event at the exhibition. The group will also visit the Lithuanian Pavilion. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to experience “EXPO SAUNA TAIYO TSUBOMI” and visit the Highly-Functional Material Week exhibition.
Moreover, the EEN partners in Japan - the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation - have arranged a visit to the Osaka Prefectural Government building, where the Lithuanian delegation will meet with the Osaka Ports and Harbors Bureau. From there, a transfer to the Dream Island Container Terminal is scheduled, where the group will tour Container Terminals No. 11 and No. 12, as well as the Asia and Pacific Trade Center. Following a business lunch, B2B meetings will be held with two logistics companies, including site visits to their premises.
The primary objective of this business mission is to foster cooperation between Japanese and Lithuanian companies. Participants will also gain valuable insights into market entry strategies, local business practices, and cultural nuances.
On April 10, the Klaipeda Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, together with the EU-Japan Centre, organized a remote seminar titled “Effective Communication and Building Sustainable Business Relationships in Japan.” This event was part of the planned business mission to Japan. EEN partners in Japan arranged a remote meeting for Lithuanian companies with Prof. Keith Jackson of Tokyo International University, who presented key principles of Japanese society and business culture. Drawing on 40 years of experience working, researching, and managing businesses in bilingual and multilingual environments in Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan, Prof. Jackson shared practical examples and techniques for overcoming communication barriers in Japan. The seminar aimed to equip participants with strategies to communicate effectively with Japanese business partners, regardless of language, and offered hands-on methods for building and strengthening business relationships.
