General information

Short Summary
A multidisciplinary research group from the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University with expertise encompasses digital health, telemedicine, AI-driven healthcare, and remote patient monitoring, with a strong emphasis on chronic disease management, including diabetes and hypertension, is offering its services under IraSME.
Full Description
The organisation team has a vast experience in the field of digital health, telemedicine, AI-driven healthcare, and remote patient monitoring, with a strong emphasis on chronic disease management, including diabetes and hypertension.
The flagship projects, innovations, and future directions include:
1. Patient-Centered, Scalable Architecture
From inception, our platform ecosystem has been engineered for scale and flexibility. A proprietary server backbone supports monitoring centres staffed 24/7, while secure web portals and intuitive mobile apps allow clinicians and patients seamless access. Smartwatch extensions (e.g., Pebble, later WearOS/WatchOS) and interactive devices such as smart toys integrate via Bluetooth and cloud APIs. Every interface follows a participatory co-design process: we conduct focus groups and iterative usability tests with seniors, adults with chronic diseases, caregivers, and paediatric patients to ensure high engagement, adherence, and accessibility across tech-experience levels.
2. Protectu Mobile Assistance System
Launched in 2010, Protectu is the Czech Republic’s first nonstop senior-assistance service. Its core capabilities include: Geolocation & Activity Monitoring, SOS Activation, Human-in-the-Loop Verification, System Uptime & Reach
3. DIANI Telemedicine Platform
Building atop Protectu’s infrastructure, DIANI delivers “medical superstructures” tailored to diabetes and hypertension: Comprehensive Data Capture, AI-Driven Alerts, Contextual Analytics, Behavioral Nudges & Education, Research Integration
4. Diabetesdagboka & Pebble Smartwatch App
In partnership with Norwegian firm NSE, we developed Diabetesdagboka—the first smartwatch app for diabetes self-management.
5. DiaMeda: Smart Pediatric Toy
To support children with Type 1 diabetes, DiaMéďa combines education and engagement:
• CGM Integration: Real-time glucose levels drive color-coded LEDs and voice messages.
• Gamified Learning: Story-based challenges teach carbohydrate counting, insulin timing, and risk signs.
• Participatory Workshops: Co-creation sessions with young patients, parents, and child psychologists ensured age-appropriate design and maximized fun.
• Pilot data show a 60% improvement in children’s retention of self-care concepts after four weeks of play.
6. Independent Practical Teaching Modules
Our “Modern Technologies in Diabetology” course immerses students in real-world practice:
1. Diary Management: Hands-on use of Diabetesdagboka to record and interpret patient logs.
2. Live Monitoring: One-week observation of volunteer patients via DIANI dashboards.
3. Critical Commentary: Structured reflections on daily patterns, teaching evidence-based digital-health insights.
In summary, our team combines clinical rigor, engineering excellence, and human-centered design to deliver end-to-end digital health ecosystems. From Protectu’s veteran senior safety network to AI-enabled telemedicine, smartwatch innovation, and play-based pediatric education, we are relentlessly advancing telemedicine to enhance patient autonomy, safety, and long-term health.
