A Slovenian company specialised in the development and production of cutting-edge medical devices and digital solutions that improve clinical workflows and increase diagnostic accuracy.
Measurement challenge:
During blood pressure measurement on the toe, they occasionally encounter the problem of (in)complete occlusion of blood flow, despite the high pressure in the cuff (as indicated by their measuring device).
At the moment, they do not know exactly what the reason for this could be - perhaps the patient, a fold in the cuff, the cuff material, a combination of the above, or something else.
However, the diameters of the cuffs are quite small, which additionally contributes to problems with placement or with folding during placement. The M size cuff is for toes with diameters from 1.75 to 2.71 cm, and the L size cuff is for toes with diameters from 2.71 to 3.66 cm. The M cuff is 2 cm wide, and the L cuff is 2.5 cm.
To better understand the cause of the problems they are facing, the company would like to measure the pressure distribution under the cuff to see if the pressure in the cuff is truly the same as the pressure that the cuff exerts on the toe. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
