General information
- Short Summary
- A German technology SME developed an innovative digital information platform designed specifically for wastewater treatment plant operators. By enabling proactive regulation based on real-time forecasts, it helps reduce energy and resource consumption, improves system stability, and supports smarter environmental management. Municipalities, cities, or others operating wastewater treatment plants are sought for implementation as well as partners for commercial agreements with technical assistance
- Full Description
-
Proactive regulation is the easiest and most cost-effective way to optimize wastewater treatment plant operation. A German company provides the insights needed to make this possible via a digital information platform that enables proactive regulation..
The platform includes three integrated components:
1. AI-based Influx Prediction: This component uses artificial intelligence to combine local weather forecasts with information on the drainage area of the treatment plant. It delivers real-time inflow forecasts at 15-minute resolution with up to six hours of lead time. This allows operators to anticipate events like "first flushes" during rainfall and proactively adjust operations—e.g., activate internal recirculation or modify treatment sequences—to avoid system strain and loss of sludge.
2. Pollution Forecasting: If control-relevant sensor data (e.g., COD) is available, a second AI model is trained to reproduce the site-specific relationship between online sensors and the pollutant of interest. The system provides a six-hour pollution forecast, allowing even more precise and forward-looking regulation of treatment processes.
3. Data Integration and Insights: The solution consolidates diverse data sources into a single, easy-to-use interface. It supports customized views, automatic analysis, and smooth integration with existing monitoring infrastructure.
The solution is already on the market and in use in Germany with proven impact and positive feedback from local authorities
The system works independently of specific sensors or infrastructure and is applicable to virtually all wastewater treatment plants in Europe, especially those impacted by rainfall-induced inflow variability.
Collaboration is sought with municipalities, cities, or other entities that operate wastewater treatment plants impacted by rain-induced inflow for pilot applications or operational deployment as well as partners for implementation and commercial agreements. - Advantages and Innovations
