General information

Short Summary
A French company offers a new-generation mobile power station, powered by photovoltaic panels and a hydrogen fuel cell. The hub can be set up in less than a day in isolated areas (mountains, countryside) to charge bikes/motorbikes/cars on a daily basis or to replace diesel gensets at exhibition events. Partners willing to be equipped with the system (municipalities, ports, event organisers, tourist offices, telecoms, public works) are sought for commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Full Description
An engineering and services company designs sustainable ecosystems that produce electricity from renewable energies by relying on PV panels and H2 fuel cell. The company studies societal and technological impacts of decarbonated mobility or stationary uses on a territory.

The company offers off-grid power station to supply electricity when access to network is difficult (isolated tourism area). The hub is setup for an event or on a durable basis. It comes pre-assembled and has very short setup / startup time.

The hub has been developed for rapid charging applications of electric mobility devices (bicycles, scooters, etc.) and the powering of telecommunications antennas. The latter is entirely decarbonised, without noise pollution and only releasing water.

The hub is equipped with electric sockets for recharging vehicles or other uses. Its batteries store green electricity coming from several PV panels on the top or from the fuel cell inside. The H2 canisters are clipped to run the fuel cell.

The station has Artificial Intelligence which automatically manages the two renewable sources to charge the batteries, preferably using PV panels when there is sufficient light or secondly using the fuel cell to delay the H2 use. The AI also considers the average use of station and the weather data. In case of low ambient temperatures, batteries can be warmed by heat from the fuel cell, allowing them to operate even in cold weather.

The company uses online platform which constantly communicates with the implemented station for data monitoring/analysis, H2 fuel cell consumption is monitored. In case of problem, it can perform maintenance remotely. The SME makes interchangeable H2 filled canisters available to its partner and evaluates the possibility in the future of equipping station also for the direct filling of H2 cars.

The H2 autonomy, and then the duration of use can be adapted with the choice of number of tanks. The removability of these tanks can mitigate the total weight of the device. Furthermore, it can facilitate its moving / transporting. The device is connected to a dedicated IT platform to follow the evolution of technical characteristics during operation of the genset.

The French company seeks partners interested in implementing the hub temporarily (rent) or permanently (purchase) under commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages and Innovations
The station is innovative and green because it is managed by an artificial intelligence to provide users with electricity stored in its batteries charged from 2 sources of renewable energy:
-either (and as a priority, thanks to the AI that decides) photovoltaic panels (if there is enough light)
-or the fuel cell, which produces electricity from H2 (at night or in bad weather).

As an added bonus, when it's cold, rather than shutting down the hub because the cooled batteries would no longer work, the calories from the fuel cell heat up the batteries, ensuring a continuous high-quality service.

The main advantages are as follows:
-versatile and autonomous for off-grid use in areas where access to the electricity grid is difficult or impossible,
-remote maintenance of the hub via the platform,
-quick set up (less than a day), which keeps costs down, and the hub can be tested before investing in a heavy fixed infrastructure,
-mobile (can be moved relatively easily) or dismountable (installation/dismantling in 1 day maximum).

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
The partner may be a local authority, a rental company, an event organiser (sport, cinema, etc.), a tourist office, the owner of an isolated site (telecommunications antenna, lighthouse), a public works company, a port or marina, etc.

The partner can have different reasons for using this new-generation green power plant, for example to assess the needs of its local customers in terms of user demand for electricity in a specific area before investing heavily in new infrastructure, or to recharge its fleet of small electric vehicles on a daily basis in fairly isolated tourist areas, or to supply electricity for temporary events.

The partner should be a private or public body that needs to install a power plant on a temporary (lease) or permanent (purchase) basis.

The French company installs the hub and provides technical assistance and maintenance. It also supplies the partner with filled H2 canisters to operate the fuel cell.
