General information

Short Summary
This award-winning start-up produces a unique type of temporary structures based on a compact, sustainable and modular patented scissor design. They can be used as event structures (domes, stages) or curved structures (temp stands). They are looking for partners to develop new projects/solutions together, notably sustainable weaterproof printable covering materials to shelter the inside of the structure as an alternative to common polutiing and not recyclable material like coated PVC and PES.
Full Description
This award-winning Belgian start-up is originally a university spin-off. It produces a unique type of temporary structures and coverings that are pre-constructed and instantly deployable, thereby significantly reducing transport, assembly, installation costs, and time for your event, with amazing aesthetic appeal. These structures are easy to set up, compact during transport and have a unique patented scissor design.

They are multi-functional: they can be used as tents, stage covering, entrance arches, screens, brand activation and so much more.

The Belgian startup is also committed on the path towards more sustainability: the design of their product is future-proof as it can be adapted in time because it is modular and replaceable (every piece of the product can be replaced). All the pieces can be re-used across almost all of the structures because they didn’t conceive a product, but rather a kit adaptable to create different shapes. They manufacture everything in Belgium. Almost no other supplier of temporary structures does this anymore. Their main suppliers are Belgian companies and the recycled aluminum comes from Belgium. The Belgian start-up also has partners to upscale the PES branded (and non-personalized) membranes of its customers to make poufs, wallets, backpacks, and so on.
Advantages and Innovations
The Belgian startup offers to sell, rent and/or design custom solutions for its customers together with them.

Its product range is composed of:
-Event structures such as domes and stages
-Curved structures to set a temporary stand
-Custom-built domes reflecting the customer’s creative input: They aim to create a design tool that utilizes optimization algorithms to convert any 3D shape into a compact scissor structure that can be rapidly assembled.

All of the Belgian startup’s products are visually appealing, easy to store, fast to set up (taking only 2 people) and can be reused endlessly. These structures are easy to set up, compact during transport and have a unique patented scissor design. And they are the result of more than 20 years of research into lightweight transformable structures and algorithms

IPR description
The Belgian start-up is in need of expertise related to waterproof membranes and coverings for distinctive event structures. Currently, they utilize environmentally detrimental coated PVC/PES membranes but aim to improve sustainability by upcycling them. Recognizing the limitations of this approach, the company is actively seeking a partner with membrane expertise.

See more information on technical specification and branding options in the Annex.

The Belgian start-up is actively seeking partners to engage in collaborative initiatives for innovation and project development. The sought-after partner should play a pivotal role in: 1) co-designing a membrane that seamlessly integrates with the start-up's structures, considering both aesthetic and structural aspects, and 2) exploring sustainable materials, with a focus on meeting the demands for printed requests. The current practice, despite a significant demand for printed membranes, is deemed unsustainable due to their limited usage duration compared to the membrane lifespan. Consequently, the start-up is in pursuit of environmentally friendly solutions, emphasizing their proficiency in structures over membranes or coverings.

While there are no specific preferences regarding partner countries, proficiency in English is essential for streamlined communication. The envisioned collaboration involves joint product development and commercialization efforts, targeting the specific local market expertise of the partner.
