General information
- Short Summary
-
The British company specialises in the Pneumatic Trailer Support System, which replaces traditional landing legs on semi-trailers. This technology enables drivers to safely lower and raise legs in seconds by the push of a button. They sell to fleet owners and trailer manufacturers through a hybrid model of direct sales and distributors operating in the aftersales sector.
They are actively seeking European distributors who specialise in semi-trail and parts for heavy-duty vehicles. - Full Description
-
Following studies that found 2.5% of truck drivers are being injured each year by the manual work of cranking landing legs, the automated landing legs sector is now forecasted to grow to $1Billion by 2030!
With today’s modern tractor units, in many applications, there is simply no need for an adjustable trailer landing leg. With the industry’s culture of developing automated systems to reduce operational risks, the hand wound landing leg system has been mostly overlooked.
The British company, with over 10 years of experience in manufacturing parts for heavy-duty vehicles, has found a solution to address the issue. Their goal is to find distributors ready to switch from manual to pneumatic through a commercial agreement.
The Pneumatic Trailer Support System has been designed with all the usual problems considered and alleviated by skilled engineers using the latest Computer Aided Design modelling and Finite Element Analysis. Operation is by push button control and fed from the trailer’s air system. There is no need for the support system to raise or lower the trailer as this can be done using the airbags on the modern tractor unit therefore making this a safe static support rather than raise/lower system. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The product is a pneumatically operated set of landing legs for semi-trailers. There are many advantages the system provides, from increased health and safety of the operator to the speed of operation compared to traditional hand-cranked landing legs. Another advantage of this product is the reduction of employment inequality based on gender and/or age because the manually operated part (physical cranking of the legs) is taken away.
In summary:
• The advantage provided by the system allows fleet owners to not only protect their drivers from injury but also can avail multiple secondary benefits including saving time, saving money on the cost of fuel, reducing employee absence and reducing their CO2 emissions. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
- Their goals for Distributors will be to encourage the switch from manual to pneumatic landing legs by customising the benefit story to local customer needs (i.e., playing on driver safety as lead benefit with one and potentially speed of operation or environmental impact with other), something we would not have customer knowledge to achieve.

Partner Sought

Looking for distributors throughout Europe (with a focus on France & Germany) that deal with trailers and sell accessories and parts for trucks, and heavy-duty vehicles.
End users: logistic companies/distribution centre
• Distributors for the company will need to meet certain criteria that will ensure they have partners in key markets that are best placed to trade customers up from manual to pneumatic (e.g., existing customer list, sales teams, customer support team). This will involve low involvement from the company global team which means our resource costs can remain low.
• The company targets distributors who will sell the company’s name as part of their portfolio of brands to the truck/haulage industries. Whilst not off the table, they are not looking for distributors who will sell ‘as us’ (e.g., ‘‘Company’s name’’ France). This will give away control of company reputation, it would be more resource intensive and not enable them to leverage an existing customer base and corporate reputation. Licensing agreements would only be entered if scale of opportunity locally is sufficient to alter the supply chain. - Type and Size of Partner
