General information
- Short Summary
- A Czech family engineering company is offering its expertise in development of cutting tools using carbon fibres (CFRP - Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer). The latest innovation are hybrid disc cutters that have already proven themselves in several industrial applications. The solution is protected by a valid international patent. The company is looking for a business entity with business-technical abilities for the introduction of the hybrid tools to various industries on a commission basis.
- Full Description
-
The family company is more than 30 years on the market. Its main business activity is the development and production of standard and special cutting tools, fixtures for clamping, measuring, etc., unique robust carousel design storage system for toolings, machines equipment for the production of sheet metal bevels, modern high-pressure device for increasing the pressure of coolant, individual and central filtration aggregates, sales and technical advice on machining technology.
The basis of the development of hybrid metal and carbon fibre cutting tools is the collaboration with another Czech partner with the know-how in the field of processing CFRP materials. and their use in the design and production of cutting tools intended for high dynamic load. The companies have long been involved in the joint development of cutting tools using carbon fibers (CFRP – Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer). The latest innovation are hybrid disc cutters that enable a significant reduction in production costs.
Case study of a real hybrid tool application:
The leading European chain manufacturer was looking for possibilities to change to a new technology, which would bring a reduction in production costs. With the use of special carbon composite production technology and a new design of the disc cutter, a reduction in production time of up to an incredible 78% was achieved. The main result is a significantly higher machining productivity, which is defined by changing the machining time of the forged steel part of the chain from the original 45 to the new 10 seconds. Another economic benefit is a significant increase in the durability of cutting tool blades, expressed by the number of machined pieces until their replacement, from the original 250 pieces to the newly achieved 1,600 pieces. - Advantages and Innovations
-
- low specific density (weight), 4 x lighter than steel 7850 / carbon composite 1600 kg /m3
- high damping capacity, approx. 20 times higher than that of steel
- high stiffness, approx. 4 x higher modulus of elasticity in tension in the direction of the fibers 760 GPa than that of steel
- corrosion resistant material
- negative coefficient of thermal expansion
- higher fatigue strength - Stage of Development
