General information
- Short Summary
- A Danish hospital is looking for a solution to their challenge with stepping stools in the operating room. Their current solution is not adjustable and not hygienic (meaning they need to be switched/stacked by non-sterile staff during operations, complicating the entire process). The hospital is looking to enter into preliminary dialogue with interested companies, discussing possible solutions.
- Full Description
-
The Danish hospital is interested in a dialogue with companies that have or could develop a solution for operating theaters, to solve the following problem. The interest is only preliminary to recruit interested companies into dialogue of possibilities. They have not yet budgeted a purchase as no solutions have been found. But a dialogue may give some idea of what is possible:
Doctors and nurses are often not of the same height and build, and different operation procedures require different working postures, to achieve best possible ergonomics.
Staff attempt to apply different aids to overcome these factors, and these aids are so far not sufficiently suitable. The primary surgeon has first priority of how the theater is staged, e.g. the height and tilt of the operating table, where assisting personal use stools or similar to achieve an optimal work position.
Existing stepping stools, and stackable stools are used frequently, however the staff experience several non-optimal conditions:
A. It is not possible to change to a specific desired/optimal height (often there are only 2-3 height levels depending on how many are stacked on top of each other)
B. Due to hygienic reasons, if height needs to be changed during operations, restacking of the stools needs to be performed by non-sterile staff, which complicates the adjustment process.
Is there an adjustable solution on the market, where the adjusting is performed by the user, fit for an operating theater? And possible with more variable settings than 2 or 3 standard settings?
It is believed that most operating theaters would experience this challenge. The scale of the market has not been investigated. This notice is only created to invite viable companies to engage in dialogue in order to see if there are suitable solutions that might become available.
