General information
- Short Summary
- A consortium led by a Danish university seeks SMEs working in green chemicals, batteries or textiles to join a Horizon Europe project (HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-MATERIALS-52) aimed at significantly improving Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes using Generative AI and Digital Twins. The project targets companies frustrated with Sustainable by Design (SSbD) and LCA compliance, offering a low-barrier, intelligent solution for sustainable innovation.
- Full Description
-
The AID-LCA project (Artificial Intelligence-Driven Life Cycle Assessment) will develop a novel AI-based platform to transform how LCAs are performed for chemicals, advanced materials and related products. Aligned with the Horizon Europe topic HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-MATERIALS-52, the project will combine Generative AI with Digital Twin technologies to automate and streamline LCA tasks—from data gathering and gap-filling to scenario simulation and regulatory alignment.
AID-LCA directly addresses the urgent need for tools that lower the barrier to entry for SMEs aiming to design products in line with Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles. the consortium is actively looking for SMEs involved in green chemicals, batteries or textile innovation who are experiencing challenges with the current SSbD framework and LCA compliance requirements. These industry partners will contribute to use-case validation and help co-create a tool that simplifies and demystifies sustainability reporting. - Advantages and Innovations
-
AI-assisted LCA with reduced manual workload.
Digital Twin simulations for real-time environmental forecasting.
Compliance-ready output tailored to EU standards Sustainable by Design (SSbD), Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Product Environmental Footprint (PEF).
SME-focused: dramatically reduces time and expertise needed to conduct LCA. - Stage of Development
