General information
- Short Summary
-
An Austrian deep tech company has developed and patented an eye tracking technology, which is fully integrated in a small and light nose pad. It allows precise eye tracking under changing light conditions, is available in different sizes and fulfils current eye safety standards. The pad can easily be combined with other head mounted systems and glasses.
The company is looking for partners for licence, manufacturing and technical cooperation. - Full Description
-
Eye tracking is one of the most effective and promising technologies to advance augmented, mixed and virtual reality applications by analysing the user’s gaze behaviour in real time. Eye tracking technologies can be applied in various industries to optimize processes and to make human-machine interactions more intuitively.
But integrating eye tracking technology in smart glasses is challenging due to the size of the components and the complexity of the technology.
The Austrian company has developed a nose pad in different sizes, which integrates the whole technology. It is 3D printed and can be adapted to the glasses easily without much effort (plug-and-play-system).
The nose pad is equipped with two eye cam sensors as well as 2 infrared LEDs, which provide independence from the ambient brightness. The electrical interface is available as a USB C or 18 pin connector. Power consumption is 15 mW.
A small, simple and robust interface is integrated. It allows the power supply, communication with the module and provides access to the image data and the control of the LEDs.
The company is interested in licencing, manufacturing and technical cooperations. - Advantages and Innovations
-
● Patented snap-in sensor for eye data and eye tracking.
● Precise eye tracking even in changing light conditions.
● The module perfectly adapts to the anatomical diversity of the users to guarantee a perfect fit. The architecture of the existing glasses does not have to be changed.
● The pad is preconfigured, calibrated and ready to use.
● It fulfills the latest CE, cUlus, PSE and EN 62471 standards.
● The nose pad weighs only 5.,2 grams (0.,19 ounce), is very robust and has won several design awards.
● Minimal energy consumption
● Quick access for manufacturers and suppliers of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Extended Reality (XR) glasses to upgrade their devices.
● Fulfils eye safety standards - Stage of Development

Partner Sought
- Expected Role of a Partner
-
For the commercial agreement with technical assistance the company is looking for the following type of agreements:
Licence agreement: Suitable partners are
● AR/VR/MR/XR manufacturers, who want to provide their system with an eye-tracking module, providing user's gaze direction info in real-time.
● smart glasses using so-called eye gestures, replacing or complementing interface technologies such as touch and voice command.
Manufacturing agreement: A suitable Partner would have the capability to produce the micro/nano technologies for them. So farfar, the company can only produce a small series.
Technical cooperation agreement: Innovation partners to use this technology for other applications like iris identification, fatigue analysis, drug testing system or detection of eye diseases. - Type and Size of Partner
