Barcelona Music Lab Foundation's mission is to make Barcelona the center for research and innovation in music technology. It is a connector between the different share and stakeholders of the music industry, including R&D centers, technology centers, music festivals, promotors, artists and the service industry around the music business.

Energy Challenge 2024 is an open innovation programme that seeks innovative solutions to accelerate the energy transition at music festivals in Catalonia (Spain).


The challenges:

Monitoring and optimising energy use
They are looking for solutions that minimise, monitor and optimise energy consumption at festivals, reducing the use of air conditioning, lighting and other aspects without compromising the experience of the attendees. Proposals that automatically adjust consumption according to needs.


Integration of renewable energy sources
They are looking for solutions that facilitate the generation and storage of renewable energy at festivals. They are interested in mobile and autonomous solar, wind or kinetic energy systems that replace the use of conventional generators and adapt to the temporary needs of the event.


Raising awareness among participants and offsetting emissions.
Regenerative proposals that involve attendees, artists and suppliers in the reduction of emissions and energy transition are valued. Interactive proposals that promote environmental awareness and offer mechanisms to offset the carbon footprint generated during the festival.
