General information

Short Summary
A team of inventors from an established Slovak scientific and research institute has developed a new concept of achieving a homogeneous transition temperature in the entire volume of GdBCOAg bulk superconductor. The preferred cooperation type are commercial agreement or investment agreement.
Full Description
In the field of high-current electrical engineering, bulk monocrystalline GdBCOAg superconductors are used in the form of superconducting permanent magnets for the construction of electric machines with frictionless rotating bearings, levitation transport devices, inertial energy reservoirs, devices for magnetic transport of drugs, wastewater treatment, and the like.
Currently, bulk single crystal GdBCOAg superconductors are produced by growing bulk single crystals from a molten mixture of superconductor components. A decisive, structurally sensitive parameter for achieving high utility parameters is the high transition temperature to the superconducting state, Tc, in the entire volume of the bulk superconductor. During the growth of a bulk GdBCOAg crystal in air, barium is partially replaced by gadolinium in the crystal lattice of the superconductor, as a result of which the transition temperature to the superconducting state decreases. This process causes the temperature of the transition to the superconducting state to increase with distance from the origin of crystallization. The result is a bulk monocrystalline GdBCOAg superconductor with a low transition temperature to the superconducting state at the beginning of crystallization.
A team of inventors from an established Slovak scientific and research institute has developed a new concept of achieving a homogeneous transition temperature to the superconducting state in the entire volume of GdBCOAg bulk monocrystalline superconductor prepared by growth from fused components of the superconductor. With the proposed concept, by adding a certain amount of CeO2, the temperature of the transition to the superconducting state at the beginning of the crystallization of GdBCOAg bulk monocrystalline superconductor will be increased by more than two degrees and thus equal to the temperature at the end of the crystallization.
The institute is looking for a partner to cooperate with via commercial agreement or investment agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
• bulk single crystal (GbBCOAg) grows without parasitic nucleation at the used concentrations of added cheap CeO2,
• the added CeO2 inhibits the growth of the particles of the Gd2BaCuO5 phase and thus increases the critical current density of the bulk monocrystalline superconductor in its own magnetic field.
