General information

Short Summary
Italian Space start-up elaborated a cutting-edge stratospheric pseudo-satellite platform and an AI software optimizing platform positioning and attitude. The stratospheric platform offers superior resolution and cost-effectiveness for applications in Earth observation, defense, disaster monitoring and telecommunications. Committed to sustainability, Italian Space start-up leads the high-altitude platform market in Italy with eco-friendly, reusable and scalable solutions.
Full Description
The stratospheric platform is a reusable, emission-free stratospheric balloon platform designed for high-altitude missions up to 40km above sea level. The platform provides unprecedented high-resolution imagery, real-time data and station-keeping capabilities, making it ideal for applications such as Earth observation, defense, disaster monitoring, agricultural monitoring, infrastructure monitoring and atmospheric research.

The AI software enhances the operational efficiency of the stratospheric platform by calculating optimal trajectories and managing the platform's attitude and positioning. This ensures high precision and accuracy in data collection and mission execution.

The start-up has a strong track record, with over 30 successful launches in the past two years. The company is also developing a stratospheric balloon constellation that can cover extensive areas, providing continuous monitoring and expanded internet connectivity.

The Sme is recognized for its commitment to sustainability, being a certified B-Corporation. The company's platforms are scalable, powered by hydrogen gas and designed for multiple reuses, promoting a circular and eco-friendly approach.

Key features of the stratospheric platform include:

High-resolution imagery (1m/pixel ground sampling distance)

Real-time continuous data acquisition (no revisiting time like satellites)

Customizable mission parameters (altitude, duration, payload)

Short lead times and flexible launch options (one to two weeks from launch commission to deploy)

The company’s global expansion strategy includes market penetration in Scandinavia, Europe and United States, leveraging partnerships with major organizations and institutions like NASA, the Italian Ministry of Defense and various research and commercial entities.
Advantages and Innovations
The stratospheric platform and the AI software offer several key advantages and innovations:

High Resolution and Precision: the Platform provides high-resolution imagery (<0.3m/pixel) that surpasses traditional satellite capabilities, enabling detailed and accurate Earth observation.

Cost-Effective and Sustainable: The platform is reusable and emission-free, reducing operational costs and environmental impact. It supports multiple missions with a single setup, enhancing cost efficiency.

Real-Time Data and Station Keeping: Unlike satellites that only pass over specific areas at set times, the stratospheric platform can maintain a fixed position for continuous monitoring, providing real-time data critical for applications like disaster response and infrastructure monitoring.

Flexibility and Customization: Clients can customize mission parameters, including altitude, duration and payload, to meet specific project needs.

Innovative Applications: The platform supports a wide range of applications, from climate change monitoring and agricultural analysis to defense and intelligence surveillance. The AI software further optimizes these missions by managing platform positioning and data accuracy.
Stage of Development
  • Available for demonstration
