The importance of methodology and statistical analysis in medical research cannot be overemphasized. It is rather complicated and time consuming for medical doctors to perform their own analyses and they must call on the dedicated service of their institution. After five years of research and collaboration with various universities and with IBM, a French start-up has developed a user-friendly statistical analysis software designed by and for doctors. Particularly simple to handle, its objective is to allow doctors and interns to efficiently make their own statistical analyses.
The software designed by the SME is the solution to address the need of medical research and offers the tools to detect and correct bad data, do the appropriate analysis (including statistical tests, ROC curves, survival, linear and logistic regressions), simply produce tables and graphs, and easily move the results into a publication.
According to clients, analyses are performed 5 to 10 times faster than with traditional software (human time). In satisfaction surveys, half of the clients described the statistical analyses with the software as "fun."
The software interface is simple and the learning time about one hour.
The start-up is seeking an e-CRF provider to partner with. Technical implementation and a commercial agreement are sought:
- Co-development of a technical component to allow seamless opening of the software from the e-CRF and vice versa
- Distribution of the integrated e-CRF and statistical analysis software solution through partner network. - Advantages and Innovations

The software was designed in collaboration with medical researchers following ergonomic research principles. Through hundreds of meetings, all the "pain points" that doctors face in statistical analysis were identified: detecting outliers, selecting the appropriate statistical test, difficulty in modifying or exporting graphs, etc. For each pain point, solutions were developed with doctors. For instance:
- the syntax highlighting of columns indicates the type of data (automatically detected during import), helping users identify errors in the database, such as miscoded variables.
- The "one-click graph" option (see image in attach) instantly generates a graph for each column, helping to spot outliers.
- Each graph can be exported via drag and drop to office applications.

The start-up is looking for long-term partners, distributors or preferably e-CRF publishers.
The partnership is based on the partner being convinced that the software is exceptionally user-friendly, much simpler to use than other statistical analysis software.
Technical implementation: The start-up and the partner will jointly develop a technical component to allow seamless opening of the software from the e-CRF and vice versa :
- Adding a "launch statistical analysis software" button in the e-CRF: clicking this button opens the statistical analysis software and exports the e-CRF database into it.
- Conversely, in the statistical analysis software, adding a "retrieve data" button (with pre-stored connection info) to connect to the e-CRF and retrieve the database.
Distribution and promotion role:
- Sell the software to its historical client base, leveraging the trust and relationship with existing clients.
- Present the software during new client prospecting, showcasing the "export data to the software" option alongside the e-CRF.
Additional roles:
- Provide level 1 and 2 hotline and after-sales support for the Software in the client's native language (level 3 support will be handled by the start-up).
- Conduct an initial one-hour training session on the Software.
- Handle all customer retention activities.
