General information

Short Summary
A German SME offering knitted fabrics has developed innovative sensoric fabrics and is looking for partners to explore its application in different sectors. The aim is to explore how and where this new kind of fabrics can be applied by agreeing on research and development cooperation agreements with European companies.
Full Description
The German company produces high-quality knitted fabrics for ladieswear, workwear, toys and hobby as well as technical textiles and textile heating. The technical textiles are used in the automotive industry, for consumer electronics, professional sound systems and for office- and homefurniture. Additionally, the company offers the coverage of frames, grills or racks of different materials (metal, plastic, wood) with their textiles.

In their latest project they successfully developed sensoric fabrics for example to incorporate pressure sensors. The textile sensors can be used in various application areas where pressure measurement or the connection of sensor and actuator technology is important. The existing prototypes so far have been installed in truck driver seats or office chairs among others. Now the company aims to take these innovative sensoric fabrics to the practical test and is therefore looking for partners. The application areas can be in the automotive industry, medical technology, interior design or furniture.

For concrete developments in these or other application areas, the company is looking for cooperation partners who know the needs for textile sensors in their industries and would like to introduce and use them there. The idea is to commonly develop the prototype further, generate new ideas and turn it into a market idea. Applicability is not restricted to any sector. The company expects the expansion to the European area to bring new innovative ideas and suggestions for the use of the textile sensors.

The SME is interested in research and development cooperation agreements.
Advantages and Innovations
The SME is specialised on the production of high-quality knitted fabrics and has a modern machine outfit with 40 circular knitting machines, Single-Unit- and Double-cylinder-machines from Jacquard- and Minijacquard- up to full electronic machines.

The circular knitted sensor fabric developed by the company together with the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research combines the advantages of circular knitting technology such as bi-elasticity, low weight, formability and three-dimensional stringability with the reliable measurement, evaluation and response of pressure sensors. As a manufacturer of high-quality technical circular knitted fabrics, the company is the only manufacturer that can offer a circular knitted sensor fabric.

The company is certificated according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). GOTS is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.

Moreover, the company’s products are tested for harmful substances according to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. This is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as accessory materials used.
