- Short Summary
- The German start-up develops an interactive, sensor-enabled playmat for children, which combines the well-known benefits of playing carpets with interactive stories and audio play elements. To produce the audiobox they are looking for a partner with expertise in injection moulding of durable plastic casings under an outscourcing agreement.
- Full Description
-
The German company is a young startup dedicated to creating innovative interactive toys that combine sensor-based technology, immersive storytelling, and child-friendly design. Founded in 2024, the company focuses on developing educational, screen-free play experiences that activate children’s imagination and logical thinking through movement and narrative.
Their sensor-enabled playmat responds to the placement of physical character figures by triggering audio-based storylines that evolve based on the child’s decisions. This creates a novel, hybrid play experience at the intersection of analog and digital.
For pre-series production, the German company is seeking a manufacturing partner to develop and produce the central audio box – a robust, injection-molded plastic housing that also includes a soft or padded outer layer to ensure child-friendly durability. This housing will contain the microcontroller, batteries, speakers, buttons, and the interface for connecting to the playmat. A potential partner should be able to incorporate the electronics into the plastic housing.
The company’s goal is to create a high-quality, scalable product that meets safety standards and delivers a seamless, immersive play experience for children.
Cooperation with a plastic injection moulding company under an outsourcing agreement is sought. - Advantages and Innovations
-
At the core of the company’s unique selling proposition is the integration of physical interaction, immersive storytelling, and expandable technology. Interchangeable surfaces and add-on packs enable new story worlds, updated figures, and fresh content to keep the experience engaging and adaptable over time. This modular approach, combined with the potential for sustainable materials, sets the product of the German start-up apart from conventional toys by offering a customizable, long-lasting solution that minimizes screen dependence and fosters imaginative play. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
-
They are looking for a partner with expertise in the following:
- Injection moulding of durable plastic casings (e.g., ABS, PC or PC/ABS blends)
- Application or integration of soft, textile or rubber-like padding (e.g., TPE overmoulding, neoprene covers, or other child-friendly materials)
- Precision fit for electronic components (internals can be produced in house or provided externally)
- Safe and rounded design, optimized for children aged 3 and up
- Color customization and branding (pre-defined by the German company)
Certifications & Compliance:
- Must meet CE and REACH standards
- Compliance with EN 71-1/2/3 (Toy Safety Directives) is a strong plus
- All materials used must be non-toxic, BPA-free and phthalate-free - Stage of Development
- Available for demonstration
- Sustainable Development Goals
- Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
