General information

Short Summary
The international oriented German-Dutch innovative company uses biogenic industrial residues to produce cost-effective and sustainable biofuels for shipping companies. They are offering supplier agreements with European shipping companies and cargo owners.
Full Description
Founded in 2023, the German-Dutch start-up is specialized in the development and supply of advanced biofuels specifically for the maritime industry. By sourcing and repurposing bio-based industrial residues, they offer marine fuels that reduce CO2 emissions by up to 97% while being more cost-effective than conventional biofuels. These fuels are designed to help shipping companies meet upcoming environmental regulations, such as the FuelEU Maritime initiative.

In its short history, the company has already developed its first three biofuels. Since August 2024, they have been supplying its products to all major German ports, and notably completed the second-ever biofuel delivery to a shipping company in Germany. Certified under the ISCC-EU sustainability standard and compliant with ISO marine fuel specifications, their biofuels are compatible with all common marine engines without the need for technical modifications. They can be used as a pure product or blended with fossil fuels, offering ship operators flexibility and ease-of-use.

The German-Dutch innovative company is now actively seeking partnerships with more European shipping companies and cargo owners committed to reducing their carbon footprint. The company primarily focusses on operators of large vessels navigating EU waters, particularly those with frequent port calls in Northern Europe. By partnering with the German-Dutch start-up, companies can benefit from highly sustainable biofuels that provide the most cost-effective solution for reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of existing vessels. Cooperation under supplier agreements are offered.
Advantages and Innovations
The companys‘ products provide significant economic and environmental advantages over conventional biofuels. Their biofuels are considerably more affordable than the current alternatives. Furthermore, the biofuels developed by the German-Dutch company achieve exceptional CO2 reductions of approximately 97%, surpassing the typical 75-84% reductions offered by FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) biodiesel. To illustrate their advantage, when a shipping vessel uses their biofuel instead of biodiesel, it can save 42% more CO2 at zero additional cost.

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
The international oriented company is actively seeking long-term partnerships with shipping companies committed to integrating biofuels into their operations. This collaboration would facilitate the ongoing supply of innovative biofuels, enabling these companies to achieve substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring compliance with evolving sustainability regulations.

The sought shipping companies should operate large vessels, preferably equipped with 2-stroke engines. Ideal partners should have frequent port calls in Germany or the ARA (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp) region, with a preference for vessels engaged in liner trade. Previous experience with biofuels would be advantageous.

The partnership could also include jointly establishing biofuel supply infrastructure in remote and currently undersupplied locations.

Additionally, the company aims to partner with cargo owners focused on reducing their Scope 3 emissions, which encompass all indirect emissions occurring within a company’s value chain. In this context, cargo owners from industries such as automotive, retail, and consumer goods are particularly relevant. These companies are increasingly recognizing the importance of addressing their carbon footprints and responding to growing consumer demand for sustainable practices.
