The Hungarian agency has various activities, on one hand it is providing support for startups and SMEs by trainings, workshops and the Smart city forum conference with community and networking opportunities. On the other hand, it is offering for clients a unique and tailored microfinancing opportunity.

Its main aim is to support the municipality to become a smart city where the municipality can use ICT to increase operational efficiency, share information with the public and improve both the quality of government services and citizen welfare thanks to the technological solutions provided by start-up’s and SMEs supported by the institution.

The public benefit foundation is constantly developing its portfolio with international business and R&D connections from any countries and looking for new project opportunities and consortia under the Horizon Europe, specifically related to smart city solutions (e.g. sustainable urban mobility, integrated infrastructures and processes in energy, information and communication technologies and transport, citizen focus, integrated planning and management, knowledge sharing, open data governance, standards, business models, procurement and funding) in order to create innovative projects and conclude R&D cooperation agreements.

The smart city technology status quo shows that city decision makers mainly perceive challenges with various technical and non-technical issues such as collaboration, economical, governance, social acceptance, and awareness of technology, as well as high technological risk, security and privacy of users and cyber-crimes issues. Thus, the agency would like to focus on these problems and with its international partners find solutions by involving startups and SMEs in the processes.

In summary, presently, the institution is looking for international partners from any country that are involved in smart city initiatives in order to build innovative projects and conclude research and development cooperation agreements and implement successfully projects under the Horizon Europe calls for proposals.

The public benefit foundation is focused on smart city activities and would like to apply with proper international partners (e.g. R&D institution, CCI, NGO, university) for Horizon Europe calls for proposals specialised in smart city topics.

The ideal partner has either already initiated a smart city project or would like to further develop the concept with the support of the agency. The partner should take the role of consortium leader, meanwhile the institution can support the consortium building on international level, the proposal preparation and act as work package leader.

The team at the foundation consists of experts in business planning, business and innovation development, EU funding opportunities, communication.

The institution can be an ideal consortium partner in any R&D consortia related to innovation, exploitation and sustainability, communication and dissemination or development of innovative services. In addition, the foundation can involve additional expert stakeholders to any specific smart city project such as the Municipality for testing or the EIT digital.
