Settled in a location known for being the largest national producer of cork stoppers, our client recycles the cork produced in Italy, hence, it produces new generation materials starting from the residue of the cork supply chain for the high-end fashion and interior design sector.
The validation process focused on the line of
The product (TRL9 high quality vegetable leather fabric) and on the development of relationships with qualified potential customers in the high-end fashion sector, interior, and packaging, for the development of the value proposition (including the product), understanding the critical success factors (distinctive characteristics of the product compared to the competition, customization requests, needs in managing supply processes, sales potential, etc.) and sales development.
The product is a flexible covering surface made out recycled cork powder and bio-based polymers; its technology can be applied in various sectors depending on the destination of the application (ex. furniture, automotive, nautical). The material is thought to last longer and come from circular processes in a vegan formula that is formed to protect the environment, producing less co2 than other materials on the market. The product is a cork-based replacement of synthetic and animal skins. - Advantages and Innovations

The start-up develops and produces new generation fabrics starting from the waste from the cork production process through upcycling and recycling models, where disused biomass is transformed into a bio-material with high performance.
Our client has different kinds of materials, and with this profile they are focusing on multilayer bio-material that preserves the technical characteristics of the raw material of which it is mainly composed (cork) with a customizable recipe in order to last longer and perform well in different environments.
It uses an innovative technology based on textile coagulation and coating.
