General information

Short Summary
Polygon Valley, founded by five teachers from the Haute École Albert Jacquard (HEAJ), experts in video game development, is intrinsically linked to the academic world. These founders also played a key role in the creation of the HEAJ Master in Video Games in 2022. Their dual role as teachers and video game professionals imbues the studio with a culture of excellence and a deep understanding of game development.
Full Description
POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTION:
Dual expertise
Polygon Valley's main distinctive advantage lies in the singular profile of its founders. They are not
just video game developers, nor just specialized teachers, but both, in a simultaneous and
integrated way. This duality gives the studio a unique set of skills and perspectives. In-depth theoretical knowledge of design principles, expertise in educational engineering and program development, the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and structured way, a fine-tuned understanding of learning and motivational processes, and a culture of educational innovation. Mastery of production tools and technologies, practical experience in developing and deploying interactive products, a keen awareness of market realities and user expectations, knowledge of production chains and agile methodologies, and expertise in optimizing the user experience (UX).

Synergy: Gamification with High Added Value
This dual expertise finds a particularly convincing application in the field of gamification, which
the studio highlights as one of its major assets.

• Pedagogical understanding ensures that game mechanisms are not simply juxtaposed
with an experience, but are designed to effectively support specific learning or communication objectives. It's about going beyond superficial engagement to aim for real, measurable impact.

• Development expertise ensures that these gamified systems are implemented in a robust, technically sound way, and that they leverage the most appropriate platforms and technologies for optimal user experience.

The combination of the two enables the design of innovative solutions that are both pedagogically
sound and technically sophisticated. It is this ability to integrate the theory of learning and the
practice of interactive game design that constitutes the heart of high added value.

Polygon Valley is thus able to design gamified systems whose impact on learning or behavior can
be anticipated and optimized thanks to a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms, a clear advantage over purely technical or purely theoretical approaches.

Implications
The beneficial influence of this dual perspective is not limited to gamification. It is also likely to
enrich other aspects of Polygon Valley's services.

• Game Design: A potentially more thoughtful approach to game mechanics, incorporating
considerations of the learning curve, intrinsic motivation and long-term commitment.

• Project Management: A greater ability to train and coach internal teams, to structure
development processes in a didactic and efficient way.

• Research and Development: An ability to conduct more informed experimentation, linking
technical innovations to theories of interaction and learning.

This unique synergy positions Polygon Valley as an ideal partner for customers and projects
requiring an in-depth understanding of user engagement, learning mechanisms, effective
communication or the design of complex interactive systems
