A Korean company has developed a bridge safety management solution based on AI and digital twin technologies to pre-predict durability of small bridges under 100m and river level changes for floods. Thus, prompt safety measures can be taken for the public.

1. The safety management for the bridge durability
(1) An IoT-based composite sensor system has been built to bridges and includes accelerometers, inclinometers, expansion joint sensors, water gauge sensors, thermohygrometers, etc as sensors
(2) Bridge damage assessment with an unsupervised learning technology will be carried out by collecting acceleration data of passing cars using cluster algorithm and create data to judge damages of bridges
(3) Bridge damage levels will be measured based on natural vibration frequency change (Fast Fourier Transform-FFT)

2. The prediction and safe management of river level
(1) The solution is equipped with a long short term memory(LSTM)-based learning modelling that uses public and actual data of bridges
(2) At the same time, a water level prediction model transmits real-time data to the control center in every 10 minutes
(3) According to these data, the solution can predict a possibility of flood and give a sign to block the problematic bridge before more serious flood emergency occurs for real

This safety management solution for bridge’s durability and river level has adopted digital twin and 3D modelling technologies, which are combined with IoT sensor data, location, and status display, and has been applied to bridges in the Eco Delta City smart village, a test site in Busan, South Korea. The accuracy rate of this solution’s bridge safety prediction is near 90%.

The Korean company is looking for both of commercial and R&D partners. As partners under commercial agreement with technical assistance, companies that have a list of clients or are interested in introducing the company’s solution to their existing products are sought. As partners under research and development cooperation agreement, companies or R&D institutions interested in collaborating on international joint R&D programmes are sought.
