General information

Short Summary
A Korean SME has developed advanced cryogenic liquid hydrogen storage and transportation technology for mobility and infrastructure applications. Leveraging its patented design and manufacturing capability, it has installed more than 10 real-world applications, including hydrogen refueling stations and drone mobility systems. The company is seeking European partners in aerospace, automotive, and energy solutions for technology cooperation agreements and research and development agreements
Full Description
In the energy transition towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system, hydrogen plays a crucial role by contributing to decarbonization and serving as an essential component for utilizing renewable energy. Three methods are currently proposed for the efficient storage and transportation of this hydrogen: Compressed gas, Liquid hydrogen, and Chemical carriers.

Among these methods, liquid hydrogen storage and transportation offer several following significant advantages, particularly when considering large-scale applications and long distances.
- High energy density by volume, which allows for more hydrogen to be transported per trip, making it more economical for long-distance transportation by ship or specialized tankers.
- Existing liquefaction and handling technologies are relatively mature compared to some other advanced storage methods. In addition, there are existing infrastructures and expertise in handling cryogenic liquids.
While liquid hydrogen requires energy-intensive liquefaction and specialised cryogenic equipment, its high volumetric energy density makes it a compelling option for specific applications, especially where maximizing the amount of hydrogen transported or stored in a given volume is paramount.

Since its establishment in 2014, a Korean SME have been developing cryogenic liquid hydrogen technologies, and being a leading company specializing in hydrogen liquefaction, storage, and related technologies. It holds over 50 patents and intellectual property rights that registered in United States, European Union, Japan, and Korea.
The company’s advanced cryogenic storage system utilizes a proprietary multilayer vacuum insulation combined with smart thermal buffering and patented safety mechanisms to maintain ultra-low temperature without continuous venting. The system has been installed in various use cases including UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-based LH2 power systems, mobile hydrogen tanks for logistics vehicles, and modular refueling infrastructure. Among these products, its tanks have passed rigorous field trials and safety evaluations in Korea and are now being prepared for European entry.

The company’s liquid hydrogen storage & transportation products include:
- Hydrogen liquefier (100 kg/day liquefaction capacity)
- Liquid hydrogen fuel tank for mobility (570 L net capacity) and for maritime applications (600 L net capacity)
- 12 Liter liquid hydrogen fuel tank for UAV
- 50 Liter / 250 Liter liquid hydrogen storage tank
- Liquid hydrogen trailer (49691 L estimated gross volume)
- Mobile / stationary hydrogen refueling station
- Cryogenics fluid level sensor and hydrogen leak detection tape
- Liquid hydrogen power pack & fuel cell drone (Max. 7 hours flight time)

The Korean SME is seeking European partners which are interested in technology licensing under commercial agreement with technical assistance and joint development with aerospace, automotive, and energy solution providers under research and development agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
• Extreme Cryogenic Capability: Enables stable long-term storage of LH₂ at -253°C using multilayer vacuum insulation and patented vent-free design.
• Compact and Scalable: Modular architecture allows integration into mobility platforms (e.g., UAVs, vehicles) and stationary applications (e.g., refueling stations).
• High Energy Density: Compared to compressed hydrogen, LH₂ offers 1.7× more energy density, improving range and payload performance.
• Field-Tested: Installed and operational in over 10 real-world applications, including pilot-scale hydrogen refueling stations and drone mobility systems.
