When wearing AR (Augmented Reality) devices or smart eyewear in the external light environment, the visibility of images decreases dramatically. To improve the visibility, the dimming technology, which adjusts the brightness of the background, has been introduced and broadening its application area to even automotive sector.
Based on the new dimming technology of GHLC (Guest Host Liquid Crystal), the Korean SME produces an optical component, the dimming film cell, which is attached to AR device lenses and smart glasses lenses. When an electric signal is given, the colour quickly darkens (transmissivity adjustment) to make images look clearer. Nowadays, this dimming film cell is being discussed for application in the automotive sector, such as for passenger switchable privacy displays.
With its in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities, the Korean SME has been supplying dimming film to smart eyewear manufacturers and collaborating with global AR glasses manufacturers for feasibility testing.
Under a commercial agreement with technical assistance, the Korean SME is seeking partners who can identify new customers in their regions. In addition, through an investment agreement, the company is interested in establishing a joint venture to explore the market together. If potential partners are interested in developing new application in the field of XR, smart eyewear, automotive sector, etc., this Korean SME is open to joint R&D under a research and development agreement. - Advantages and Innovations
