- Short Summary
- As a Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Marine Services Directorate, we carry out activities to prevent marine pollution and clean the sea in and around the Istanbul Bosphorus including sea surface cleaning, underwater cleaning, recycling of marine wastes. We are providing dissemination activities on environmental awareness. We have 15 funded EU projects, and would like to participate as a partner/coordinator in projects related to environmental sustainability.

- As a Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Marine Services Directorate, we carry out activities to prevent marine pollution and clean the sea in and around the Istanbul Bosphorus, one of Europe's critical waterways. In this context; We provide coastal, beach and sea surface cleaning services on the Marmara and Black Sea coasts of Istanbul, with 36 mobile crews of 216 people and cleaning boats. In addition; We carry out technical studies such as waste collection services from ships and awareness raising activities. Since awareness studies have a special importance in our Department; We carry out Sea Cleaning Awareness Activities, in which reaching especially children, young people and women is at the forefront. In this context, we organize online and face-to-face trainings, coastal/beach cleaning activities, underwater cleaning diving activities, public exhibitions of wastes extracted from the seabed, and artistic activities related to the recycling of marine wastes. Considering the geopolitical location and population density of Istanbul; We can reach millions of people with our awareness activities. With the work carried out by our Department, we contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals 14 Life in Water, 6 Clean Water and Sanitation and 17 Partnerships with Purpose. We are eager to plan and implement development-oriented projects, especially focusing on the protection of the sea and its environment.
