General information
- Short Summary
- A German Start-Up has developed a new rubber band ligation for the treatment of haemorrhoids and esophageal varices. The new technology enables the rubber bands to be applied safely and precisely to the area to be treated. By activating the automatic rewinding mechanism, the excess length of wire is wound back to the winch. The start-up is looking for cooperation partners, licensees and/or investors to further develop the new technology for series production.
- Full Description
-
The rubber band ligature is one of most executed and cost-efficient procedure in the ambulant endoscopic surgery to treat haemorrhoids and esophageal varicose veins. Currently available well-established equipment on the market is mostly designed for right-handed people and can only be used for just one of the treatments mentioned afore.
In addition, often two rubber bands are applied unintendedly at the same time, resulting in interruptions of the treatment. The application of the rubber band is carried out by rotation of the applicator, which impairs with a safe and steady usage of the device, if no fixations are present. Also, the excess length of the thread at the endoscope can only be pulled manually in the preparation phase.
With the newly developed technology the above-described disadvantages are efficiently eliminated. Here the trigger for applying the treatment is moveable mounted and connected to the module, thus a safe and well-directed application of the rubber bands at the medicated spot is possible. By restoring the trigger to the initial position, the automatic recoil mechanism activates and winds up the excess length of the wire back to the winch. The latter one reduces time significantly in the next preparation phase. The new rubber band ligature is designed for right- and left-handed people likewise and allows for safe and steady handling.
The new technology of the Bandligator is based on the pull and push principle, so no fastening is required, and it is suitable for different endoscopes thanks to the detachable accessories. Furthermore, it allows for multifunctional and multi-disciplinary application as treatment for esophageal varicose veins or haemorrhoids. - Advantages and Innovations
-
Advantages of the innovation are:
• Purposeful and safe application of the rubber bands at the medicated spot
• Usable for esophageal varicose veins or haemorrhoids treatment likewise
• Automatic recoil of wire possible
• Trigger mechanism is based on pull – pressure - principle
• Easy to handle, safe and user-friendly handling of the device at the endoscope
• Application of up to 10 rubber bands per cycle possible
• Suitable for left- and right-handed persons likewise
• Easy and cost-efficient device - Stage of Development
