General information

Short Summary
An award-winning laboratory from Germany for accredited testing of implants and surgical instruments is looking for European leaders from research or industry to develop test procedures that help to uncover safety problems with implants even better.
The laboratory is also striving for further EU expert exchanges in order to enhance pre-clinical testing in accordance with medical device regulations.
Full Description
The German laboratory for accredited testing of implants, surgical instruments and coatings has developed into one of the leading testing laboratories in Europe. The portfolio is diverse and includes preclinical testing of breast implants, total joint replacements (hip, shoulder, knee), osteosyntheses, spinal devices, dental implants, and testing of bone cements and coatings. Tests of surgical instruments from different industries are also possible.
Based on its experience, the laboratory staff will also develop a test methodology when a standard is missing. The Management Board is also actively involved in certifications and standards committees for the further development of international standards, for example for testing breast implants.
Advantages and Innovations
The company invested in a highly modern testing and measurement equipment, attention was also paid to sustainable operation. An extension building with additional test setups, for example for permanent mechanical loads, is planned. The tests are carried out under strictly controlled conditions.
The well-connected laboratory is known for the high quality of test procedures and reports as well as short lead times and quick responsiveness, certified by standards ISO 17025:2018 and test reports accepted globally by MRA-ILAC recognition. Employees are longly experienced in implant research, biomechanics, and testing.

Already today up to 70% of the customers come from abroad, which speaks for a trans-regional awareness and a great reliability and satisfaction of the customers.

By bundling competencies in a laboratory network, the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is very well positioned in terms of the variety of test programs. The laboratory can also contribute in matching with further lab partners. There will certainly be opportunities here for even better European visibility.

New testing approaches are to be developed depending on customer requirements and taking into account cost-effectiveness, and research projects or technology cooperation can be helpful for these additional testing tasks.
