General information

Short Summary
The company is based in Germany and backed by a team of experienced international hard- and software engineers.
The company has built and owns multiple hardware designs such as energy monitoring hardware, power supplies, sensors and robots.
The company’s latest release of the edge-ai single board computer is targetted towards multiple industries such as the facility management industry, building automation, digital-twin, electric vehicle charging, robots and automated guided vehicles.
Full Description
The problem with todays' industrial internet of things devices is the lack of neural processors hence not being suitable for ai applications.
Generally, the code is flashed on to SD cards which can be easily stolen. The existing industrial internet of things devices donot support parallel processing of multiple applications that are crucial to multiple industries. A custom device needs to be used for each application.
E.g. Multiple sensors and camera information are required for a robot to take a dynamic decision.
Most companies using existing raspberry-pi form factor based devices or i.MX 6 and i.MX 7 devices need to spend extensive financial budget and incur overhead costs to sustainably upgrade their systems to neural processing power for ai applications.

Companies need to create a new design of the hardware, create the drivers and write the software to run ai applications.

The solution:
The Single Board Computer is a 87mm X 60mm single board computer. It is comparable to the raspberry-pi but has significant advantages like dual ethernet ports to operate devices on two separate networks and a Neural CPU, mipi camera interface and a display interface.
The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) on board allows a graphical user interface based operation in addition to the ssh interface.

The design sale includes the sale of the schematics, the layout and the drivers for key applications like RDP, MODBUS, BACNET, QT and NODE-RED and EDGE-AI Facial Recognition as a package.
Hence companies can save approximately a six-figure cost in hardware and firmware development. The hardware is readily scalable to multiple industries.
The application portfolio of “Single Board Computer” includes:
• Energy monitoring
• Drone vision
• Predictive maintenance
• Number plate recognition
• Driver monitoring systems
• Human-machine-interface with facial recognition
• Warehouse robot retro-fit
• Electric vehicle charging and monitoring
• QR/Barcode reader

The software is built-in with RDP, MODBUS, BACNET, QT and NODE-RED and enables various ai processes, e.g. EDGE-AI Facial Recognition.
Compared to Raspberry Pi, the Single Board Computer Board comes with dual Ethernet Ports, an embedded MultiMedia Card, a neural CPU and the NXP EdgeLock Security.
A Q7 Connector for i.MX6 and i.MX7 processors enables the seemless device upgrade for existing systems.
The technology readiness level is 7 (system prototype demonstration in operational environment).
Advantages and Innovations
The hardware has a special raspberry-pi connector and an interface to i.MX6 and i.MX7 boards. Hence existing i.MX6, i.MX7 based devices can readily be sustainably upgraded to neural-processing-power.

A company buying the design can readily sell the hardware and also sell solutions such as facial recognition on the edge, bacnet read-write, modbus read-write, QT based UI’s and Human Machine Interfaces. They can also choose to use it for their target market domain e.g. electric vehicle charging.

The design is unique and cost effecient since the product has been tested and important firmware drivers till the application level are provided. The hardware is able to run parallel processes with low memory usage.

A Q7 Connector for i.MX6 and i.MX7 processors enables the seemless device upgrade of existing systems.
The choice of design components allow for a 10 year longevity.

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
Companies interested in shifting to edge-AI are sought e.g.:

Clients who are intersted in edge-ai but purchase off-the-shelf hardware where the manufacturer discontinues the product every 2 years. The ownership of the design (10 year longevity of the processor availability) allows clients to create a product rather than a prototype.

Hardware manufacturers:
A client who has already released hardware based on i.MX6 and i.MX7 processors but would like to upgrade to neural processing power of i.MX93 processors.
