- This project aims to modernize the skills of ceramic tile installers. It focuses on improving both technical abilities and soft skills like design, customer communication, business management and so on. With a new vocational education and training program, the project supports ceramic professionals/installers in adapting to today’s industry needs and expectations.

With rapid technological advancements in the ceramic industry and increasing customer expectations, ceramic tile installers must possess not only technical expertise but also a strong understanding of customer needs and preferences. A modern ceramic tile specialist must also have aesthetic vision, entrepreneurial skills, and business management capabilities. This vocational training project is designed to modernise the skills of ceramic tile installers, equipping them with technical proficiency while enhancing their entrepreneurial, design, and customer relationship skills.
The current consortium composition has started to form a strong collaboration. 18 Mart University established a new vocational school program on skill-based learning. The new program has been accepted by the Higher Education Council of Turkiye under the name of Building Surface Design Technician Department. Additionally, KSV (KALE SERAMIK FOUNDATION TURKIYE), Istinye and Gebze Technical University will provide education materials for the related program. Kale Seramik and Kalekim, as key industry players in a sector where ceramic installers are important actors, will make significant contributions to the process, starting with the identification of current needs - Advantages and Innovations

This need is further emphasized by leading manufacturers in the building, construction, and ceramics sectors—such as Kale Seramik and Kalekim—highlight a growing need for updated training in craftsmanship skills essential for product application. Market research also reveals a shortage of qualified professionals in this area.
