A company from south Poland is offering the Smart Roof platform for safe roof maintenance.
The offered roof monitoring system consists of several modules. Large roofs (in supermarkets, production halls, theaters) are exposed to loads that can severely damage their structure. Most often these are flat roofs with a small angle of inclination, where water or snow might accumulate. If drainage system is clogged, the pressure on the roof structure can exceed critical values, leading to a collapse. Therefore, it is extremely important to monitor the amount of water or snow deposited on the roof.
The offered system analyzes the thickness of water or snow layer deposited on the roof and the deflection of the roof by measuring the displacement of selected parts of the roof structure in relation to the measurement base, signalling potential danger if the acceptable deflection limit is approached.
The system also generates weather alerts in the event of impending heavy rainfall or strong winds, forcing increased vigilance of parties those responsible for building maintenance.
