General information
- Short Summary
- The company is a high-tech SME specializing in micro-nanotechnology and surface engineering. The company has developed a portable, ultra-fast, and highly sensitive detection platform for Legionella pneumophila, the bacterium responsible for Legionnaires’ disease. Utilizing a lab-on-a-chip device and a portable analyzer, this platform enables on-site detection of Legionella in water samples within 3 hours, significantly faster than the traditional 10-day laboratory culture methods
- Full Description
-
Founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos," the company has developed patented plasma nanotechnology that enables one-step structural and chemical modification of materials. This technology produces nanostructured surfaces with tailored properties, such as superhydrophobicity, hydrophilicity, antifouling, and self-cleaning capabilities.
The company's flagship product is a lab-on-a-chip device that integrates sample preparation, bacterial capture, lysis, and DNA amplification using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP). The detection is achieved through a colorimetric change observable by the naked eye, allowing for rapid and accurate identification of Legionella pneumophila at the point of need .
