General information
- Short Summary
- The Slovenian company is a producer of advanced systems for biotechnology. They produce a range of equipment that is used in very diverse microbiological labs. Specifically, the company is looking for partners interested in integration of their incubator biomass sensors and/or automated systems for subcultivation, through Commercial agreement with technical assistance.
- Full Description
-
The Slovenian company is developing and building biomass sensors that are commonly used for cultivations in shaking incubators where they provide online, real-time data on cell proliferation, eliminating the need for manual contamination-prone sampling, providing data that simplify research, development and production. The use of their sensors goes beyond simple growth curve acquisitions: minimal inhibitory concentration investigations, media development, strain screening, active pharmaceutical ingredient screening, titrations and similar applications require less manual labor, less resources, and can be undertaken in a shorter time frame with their biomass sensors.
Biomass sensors for shaking incubators, flaskOD and scatterOD, rely on transmitted light and scattered light detection technologies, respectively. The two systems and technologies cover a large range of applications, from ultrahigh sensitivity biomass detection in 250 mL glass shake flasks (flaskOD) to detecting biomass in diverse vessels (scatterOD).
Additionally, mtpOD (microtiter plate) system is used for the detection of biomass in deep well microtiter plates on shaking incubators.
They company is also offering an automated system for subcultivation experiments and adaptive laboratory evolution – the subCultivator. The system features a 2 mL bioreactor with mixing, thermoregulation, biomass and fluorescence detectors coupled to four high-precision syringe pumps to perform passages, subcultivations and automated adaptive laboratory evolution.
The company is interested in Commercial agreement with technical assistance. - Advantages and Innovations
-
Systems for online biomass monitoring are noninvasive and eliminate manual labor, errors and contaminations that are the main disadvantages of manual biomass monitoring. These disadvantages are a great limiting factor in frequency of biomass monitoring. With the use of automated systems their appreciation and application frequencies are exponentially growing.
General advantages of online biomass monitoring include:
• Elimination of manual labor
• Elimination of measurement errors
• Elimination of sampling and contaminations
• Parallelization of measurements
• Vastly improved measurement frequencies
This means that online biomass monitoring systems can provide much more data in a more reliable fashion than manual monitoring. As a consequence, biomass monitoring is becoming more common and provides further benefits:
• With improved accuracy and frequency of measurements more details about microbial growth and physiological characteristics are being discovered.
• Decisions on cultivation process can be made in an informed, data-driven fashion.
• Workflows are more efficient as R&D can be managed with less experiments and re-runs.
• Workflows can be easily automated.
• Improved production throughput by online bioprocess monitoring and cultivation times optimizations. - Stage of Development
