General information

Short Summary
A leading research Institute from Slovenia is offering elemental analysis of all types of surfaces, microanalysis of fibers, powders, surfaces from glass to metals, surface microbiological analysis, analysis of surface and cross-sectional deposits, etc.
The Institute provides a comprehensive approach from analysis to recommendations.
The Institute is looking for commercial or outsourcing agreements.
Full Description
The leading Slovenian research Institute is offering microanalysis, examination of the morphology and chemical composition of the material at the micro and nano levels, and elemental analysis of all types of materials - fibers, powders, surfaces from glass to metals, surface microbiological analysis, analysis of surface and cross-sectional deposits, etc.
The Institute offers a broader scientific support package: from recommending the most suitable characterization methods to brokering access to other specialized facilities available within the institute.

The Institute primarily provides Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis services.
In the scope of SEM services, the available techniques include Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS), that allows elemental analysis, and Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) for crystal structure analysis (size and orientation of crystal grains in a material - this is mainly used by the steel industry, however, it is also used for identification of the material by its unit cell, i.e., crystal structure).
Generally speaking, if the problem is 1 cm2 or smaller, they can offer a solution.

The Institute has four SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) instruments:
• Jeol JSM-7600F;
• Thermo Fisher Quanta 650 ESEM;
• Thermo Fisher Verios 4G HP;
• Thermo Fisher Apreo 2S.

A Focused ion beam (FIB) instrument:
• Thermo Fisher Helios 5UC.

Two TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) instruments:
• State-of-the-art Thermo Fisher Spectra 300;
• Jeol JEM-2100.

The Institute is looking for commercial or outsourcing agreements.
Advantages and Innovations
• Broad scientific support package - recommending the most suitable characterization methods.
• The Institute houses next‑generation Focused Ion Beam (FIB) instrumentation, delivering a seamless, end-to-end sample‑prep and analysis pipeline - from optical inspection all the way through high‑resolution TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) characterization.
• Thermo Fisher Scientific Spectra 300 STEM represents the flagship platform in modern transmission electron microscopy, offering unrivalled spatial, spectroscopic, and analytical performance down to the sub‑ångström scale.
• Small and flexible research team with several experts in the field.
• Quick response time.
• Fast service options (on demand).

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
Type of Partner Sought: Organizations in need of elemental analysis of all types of surfaces, microanalysis of fibers, powders, surfaces from glass to metals, counting bacteria on the surface, analysis of surface and cross-sectional deposits, etc.

The partner is expected to need either structural or chemical nanoanalysis services, however, alongside advanced SEM / TEM nano‑analysis, the Institute offers a broader scientific support package: from recommending the most suitable characterization methods.

The desired outcome of this cooperation would be a commercial or outsourcing agreement according to which the Slovenian Institute provides SEM and/or TEM analyses.
