General information
- Short Summary
- A highly scientific Italian start up and academic spin off devoted to transfer chemical sensing knowhow into smart packaging solutions for freshness monitoring of perishable foods, developed and patended several lab-tested prototypes. New partners are sought for tailored development and industrial scale-up under Commercial agreement with technical assistance or Research and development cooperation agreement.
- Full Description
-
A research project on poultry meat freshness monitoring by chemical recognition of volatile spoilage markers and naked-eye detection started in 2017. The scientific team achieved very interesting results and great interest, that inspired the researchers to patent the device and found the start up.
Since then, the start-up developed several prototypes and tested the most promising ones for industrial scale up. It got in contact and established partnerships with key partners and presented the innovative solutions to potential clients. Furthermore, the company took part in and, sometimes, won start up competitions: it earned grants, attracted investments from Business Angels and expanded the team with new collaborators with commercial and business expertise.
Cases of food poisoning are still very frequent, especially in the summer; aftermarket food waste is also a waste of money for the consumer.
The company mission is to provide a secure and reliable tool to reduce food waste alongside food supply chain, from the producer to the consumer, respecting food quality and consumers health.
At the present moment the company can offer scientific and technological know-how, coupled with lab instrumentations and appliances, to develop from scratch tailored solutions for degradation or freshness monitoring.
These solutions rely on chemical recognition of volatile spoilage markers and can be tuned for any perishable product, ranging from meat, fish, dairy and other food products. Once developed the lab-tested device, the company can rely on the already established supply chain for the industrial scale up of the device.
The first device for poultry meat and fish products freshness monitoring has been already developed and is currently under scale-up.
The company is now looking for new partners in order to:
- spreading the experimentation of the technology in different applications by food manufacturers and retailers, within Commercial agreement with technical assistance
- test and develop new applications of the technology in the field of food packaging, within Research and development cooperation agreement. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
