General information
- Short Summary
- A research consortium is looking for an SME or industrial partner for a collaborative R&D project focused on the development of 2D van der Waals layered materials for hydrogen production and storage.
- Full Description
- The consortium is made up of 7 partners in 6 countries (4 EU, 1 Assoc. C, and possibly USA). The aim is developing technologies that will enable the synthesis of hybrid Oxide/sulfide, Nitride/sulfide heterostructures. These type of new hybrid material has been shown to have a better performance expectation in theoretical studies. Using transition metal di chalcogenides and boron based 2D materials, the need to generate the knowledge for fabrication of such structures will be addressed by the reserachers from four universities and two research institutes. The materials synthesized will be characterized for their structure, H-evolution, and storage potentials by the aforementioned institutions and a research and manufacturing company.
- Advantages and Innovations
- The proposed hybrid materials have the advantage of being stable at ambient and elevated temperatures. In addition, these hybrid materials have a better performance in the loading and unloading characteristics of hydrogen.
- Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
-
A research team from a university in Türkiye is seeking a business partner to contribute to a project focused on a new class of hybrid 2D structures for hydrogen storage. The partner is expected to support feasibility validation, conduct cycling tests, and contribute to the optimization of the developed materials.
One of the precursor materials used in the synthesis is a sulphur-based industrial by-product. While not essential, the ability to conduct life cycle analysis (LCA) for this waste material would be considered an asset. - Stage of Development
