General information
- Short Summary
- This innovative solution for industrial laundries simplifies their management by introducing a new level of intelligence. Through linen traceability and quality control, it provides a more effective response to the logistical demands typical of this type of service.
- Full Description
-
With the aid of RFID technology, this automated system manages the entire process from the dirty garments input to the shipment of clean ones, enabling detailed mapping of every individual movement of each item.
RFID technology is based on data-storing memories—RFID tags—that are read remotely by specific RFID readers (antennas, terminals, gates, etc.). RFID is therefore an excellent solution for industrial laundries. Its automatic identification capability lies in a microchip that works on the principle of electromagnetic induction.
When prompted by an RFID reader, the tag initiates a process of data communication and exchange in both reading and writing modes. This allows the tag to contain a unique serial code (TID), which cannot be falsified, ensuring an extremely effective traceability system.
Furthermore, RFID tags can be read in bulk, also when the items they are attached to are stacked one on top of the other or inside a box. The UHF scanner is designed to work with any typical articles placed on carts, pallet jacks or boxes.
The scanner features a simple and intuitive user interface. By placing the goods inside the scanner, detection data is automatically retrieved and displayed on a touchscreen monitor mounted on the side.
The touchscreen interface allows users to interact with the system through predefined inputs, avoiding errors. The system can operate directly at the loom at textile manufacturing companies or at the end of the line for industrial laundries, inspecting folds and/ or detecting dirty or damaged fabrics.
This industrial laundry tracking system is particularly suitable for hospitals and assisted living facilities. RFID technology enhances the system’s speed and efficiency, allowing precise identification of incoming and outgoing garments based on general owner data (name, ward/ unit, room number, or patient bed), garment characteristics (type, material, and colour), and the required wash cycle (water temperature, type of detergent, duration of the process).
The technology may be also used as a vision system for quality control
This system automatically detects common weaving defects (such as double weft, missing threads, excessive beating, etc.) but can also be used for dimensional checks (as in the case of filters) or to inspect folding and/ or detect dirty or damaged textiles. The benefits of implementing this system are immediately evident in improved quality, ensuring that the entire product batch meets the defined standards. - Advantages and Innovations
