General information
- Short Summary
- Greek SME specialised in producing the best kalamon olives and extra virgin olive oil from Sparta and Crete is looking for foreign partners to import its products for distribution and wholesale.
- Full Description
-
This Greek food processing company has two olive mills (on the island of Crete and in the Peloponnese region) and one olive processing facility that produces extra virgin olive oil, as well as organic and vegan extra virgin olive oil.
Since 1930, the company has been active in the production, processing, standardization and exportation of the world-renowned kalamon variety of olives from Kalamata. The company’s premises are located in one of the prime olive-growing areas of Greece in the mountainous region of Sparta, and where the olives are cultivated on the sunny mountain slopes.
The company’s olive mill is situated on the island of Crete. Its production and packaging unit of olive oil has been operating in the field of extra virgin olive oil for more than 40 years. Its fully-equipped production line has an average capacity of 4500 (1 litre) bottles per hour and complies with ISO 22000 and the International Food Standard (IFS). It is the only olive oil producer that combines two olive varieties (koroneiki and psilolia) in order to produce its exceptional extra virgin olive oil with its unique and balanced mixture of taste and aromas. It also has organic cultivation in order to produce certified organic extra virgin olive oil.
In addition, the company has recently introduced two new products to its range: salad oil (a blend of 90% sunflower oil and 10% pomace oil that can be used as a light healthy dressing, for frying and also in combination with other ingredients as a marinade; pomace oil with a blend of 90% pomace oil and 10% extra virgin olive oil – it has a light, gentle flavour and is ideal for deep frying, baking, cooking or for dressings.
The Greek client already exports to 27 countries on 4 continents around the world, but it is keen to expand further. So, it is looking for commercial partners to import and distribute its products on their local markets. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The olives the company cultivates, processes and sells are exclusively of the kalamon variety from the Kalamata region in the south of Greece, one of the prime olive-growing areas in the country. These olives are large, almond-shaped, plump, and dark brown-purple and they are known for their smooth, meaty texture. Kalamata olives cannot be harvested green, and must be hand-picked to avoid bruising.
The company’s extra virgin olive oil has a maximum acidity of 0,5% and is produced using only natural methods with strictly-controlled low (cool) temperature conditions. Production begins as soon as the olives have been harvested in order to avoid the degrading of its essential elements (colour and aromas). From the olive mil to the bottling plant, the olive oil is transported by underground pipes in order to protect its quality. The double layer container tanks used for storing the olive oil are made out of stainless steel and are kept underground for the best protection from the potentially damaging effects of too high temperatures. - Stage of Development
