General information

Short Summary
A Ukrainian technology university offers fuel tablets made of non-aggressive components which are a safe way to store energy and are used to obtain hydrogen at the right time, place, or amount during their reaction with water. The university is looking for investors to implement pilot production of the tablets and partners for their joint testing and certification in EU countries.
Full Description
Hydrogen energy is one of the priority areas of green energy development and energy efficiency improvement, the relevance of energy efficiency tasks was emphasized by the new Energy Efficiency Directive (EU) 2023/1791, which entered into force at the end of 2023.
The Ukrainian technological university has developed a technology for obtaining hydrogen from chemically neutral materials and manufacturing fuel tablets which are a safe way to store energy and are used to obtain hydrogen at the right time, place, and amount when they react with water. The tablets are an alternative to existing hydrogen storage devices: a) in pressurized cylinders; b) in liquid form; and c) in metal hydrides. The hydrogen produced in the tablet generator can be used as fuel for internal or external combustion engines (such as steam), welding machines, heating furnaces, cooking ovens, balloon inflation, etc. Using the tablets with fuel cells will allow powering electrical equipment in the field without harming the environment.
The main technical characteristics of tablets:
- Release of hydrogen from 1 kg of fuel tablets - 1.23 m³;
- Electricity from 1 kg of tablets (when using a fuel cell) - 73.66 kW;
- Heat release from 1 kg of tablets - 41574 kcal;
- The estimated need for tablets per 100 km for the Toyota Merai hydrogen car is approximately 3.9 kg;
- Estimated cost per 100 km mileage - about $0.09/km (pills) compared to $0.06/km for gasoline.
Today, fuel tablets are the safest means of obtaining hydrogen.
Tablets after use can be restored to their original state by recycling.
In field conditions (war/natural disaster) where disposal isn't possible, tablets may be considered disposable.
To implement the pilot production of the tablets, the university is seeking investment through an investment agreement, as well as partners for technology testing and certification and technology dissemination through a commercial agreement with technical assistance and/or an agreement on cooperation in the field of research and development.
Advantages and Innovations
- Safety in transportation;
- Possibility of recovery;
- Environmental safety for the environment.
Using tablets with a gas generator with specially designed hydrogen burners and fuel cells will provide an efficient and safe heat and electricity supply for consumers and electric vehicles.
