General information
- Short Summary
-
The UK company has developed architectural acoustic panels for category B and C commercial property projects using natural materials. The product will be tested to UKAS accredited standards Class B FR Fire Rating and Class C acoustic absorption, which is competitive amongst existing market solutions. The panels can replace conventional petrochemical or high carbon equivalent options, making them an environmentally friendly product.
Seeking distributors in Denmark, Germany and Southern Europe. - Full Description
-
The company was founded in 2014 with a positive environmental mission at its core and they are registered as a UK Social Enterprise with environmental and social objectives, which are enshrined into the ethos of the organisation.
The company continue to work with farmers, processors, and research institutions, including innovate UK, to develop novel and innovative solutions to reduce the climate impact of construction and built environment and to improve the health of the inhabitants and end users.
The organisation has experience cultivating industrial hemp under licence in the UK but now work with a network of UK and EU farmers who grow hemp. From this raw material they now supply a range of organic and natural hemp products and ingredients. The acoustic products and panels replace the “conventional” petrochemical or high embodied carbon equivalent options.
Unrivalled in its ability to mitigate environmental damage, hemp grows with little to no artificial inputs, actively nourishes the earth and sequesters a substantial amount of heat-trapping CO2 from the atmosphere.
In fact, hemp is so good at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere that it isn’t just a carbon-neutral crop, it’s carbon negative! As well as improving soil quality, it balances soil biota and increases the yield of follow-on crops.
Every part of the hemp plant can be used for new environmentally friendly products and solutions to consumption, so zero waste. From building materials to bioplastics, together we can build a healthier world using this ultra- sustainable plant.
All the products are manufactured locally with natural materials using low impact production methodologies to deliver a positive environmental impact, this is supported by Life Cycle Assessments, and they are targeting the highest environmental certification within the built environment, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED.
Full Environmental Product Declarations will be produced for each product line.
The company is now seeking Distributors and Partners to sell their acoustic panels and products into the wider construction and built environment sector supply chains, including commercial building developers, building and construction materials suppliers, interior fit out contractors, self-build, and DIY Industry.
These Distributors and Partners with their existing contacts, sales channels, and reputation, would be able to leverage opportunities for these new acoustic panels and products made from natural materials into the European market. - Advantages and Innovations
-
These natural sound absorption products are competitive on both performance and price verses the existing solutions in the market. The existing products having much higher embodied energy.
The panel’s estimated environmental impact is -4.2kg/m2 CO2e net embodied carbon within the cradle-gate model.
The product is tested to the following standards Class C (25mm) and Class A (50mm) acoustic absorption BS EN ISO 354 Absorption (TTP08, Type A). Thermal Conductivity λ 0.041W/m2K. FR rating BS EN 13501-1:2018 Class B.
The innovative idea to develop and produce acoustic panels from hemp and targeting a specific niche product that leverages the performance of the natural materials used, such as the hollow hemp fibre and bio-resin gives everyone in the supply chain down to the end user excellent environment credentials.
The panels and products reduce toxins within the built environment to create a healthier living environment for inhabitants. The products do not require PPE as they are ultra-low volatile organic chemicals and formaldehyde free.
Use of Hemp mitigates environmental damage, as hemp grows with little to no synthetic inputs, actively nourishes the earth, and sequesters a substantial amount of heat-trapping CO2 from the atmosphere. - Stage of Development
