General information
- Short Summary
-
UK-based hydrogen technology company offers advanced, cost-effective, and efficient hydrogen electrolyser systems, supported by patented technology. It provides electrolyser stacks and plug and play green systems. This technology means the electrolyser stacks are both cheaper and more efficient than incumbent systems.
The company seeks commercial agreements with technical assistance to integrate green hydrogen infrastructure into the operations of their partner organisations. - Full Description
-
The UK Hydrogen electrolyser technology company was established in 2021. The company is a manufacturer of next generation green hydrogen systems for energy storage and clean fuel.
The anticipated demand for green hydrogen systems is expected to be over 400 GW by 2030. The current installed capacity globally is still small, with approximately 1 GW in operation. Rapid expansion of electrolyser manufacturing capacity is envisaged in the next 5 years.
The company has developed significant improvements in electrolyser technology, creating hydrogen generation stacks that are both cheaper and more efficient.
Their patented catalyst innovation prevents hydrogen crossing through the membrane on an electrolyser and can provide both full systems or stacks and support. This means the company can safely make the membrane thinner, increasing the efficiency of an electrolyser, with the potential to produce hydrogen at a higher pressure compared to existing solutions in the market.
The company offers a plug and play electrolyser system, leads the manufacture and deployment of the systems, and offers lifetime support of the systems. This is through warranties, scheduled servicing and maintenance, and pre-emptive and preventative maintenance, reducing both system downtime and increasing reliability.
The technology has completed secondary trials which fully demonstrate the system’s performance, durability, and safety. Their technology is currently at Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL 7).
To date the company has raised £6M in seed funding. This has allowed them to grow the team, and establish premises in the UK south west region and a demonstrator unit that is operating on an independent customer site (a full off-grid solar powered 250 hydrogen electrolyser). They have existing customers in Africa and Europe, with recent sales for 1MW electrolysers in both Morocco and to South Africa. They are currently expanding internationally to all markets globally , with particular interest in further expansion in Europe, the US and South Asia.
The company is looking for partners who want to pilot green hydrogen infrastructure, for high energy industries and industries that need hydrogen at volume e.g. ammonia, steel and methanol production, and transport applications. This would be a partnership demonstrating a full green hydrogen economy. Ideally they are looking for a renewable energy company (solar or onshore wind), a hydrogen midstream company and a long-term guaranteed off taker. Further involvement in the partnership would involve those that can offer project management services and assess the commercial viability of such projects. Partnerships are sought under commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Limit 4000 characters - Advantages and Innovations
-
The company offers several innovations:
Firstly, they have a stack design that enables the use of ultra-thin membranes. This drives extremely high performance and thrifts on fluoropolymer use. The result is extremely efficient electrolysis, which reduces the amount of energy required to produce green hydrogen. The typical range of our electrolysers is 45 – 50 kWh / kg H2, whereas the competition is approximately 49 – 55 kWh / kg at full production capacity.
Secondly, they have a stack design that is simplified, requires only low-tolerance machining, and is hence highly cost-effective and is manufacturable at very large-scale. This addresses both the high-cost barrier and the manufacturing difficulties that have faced incumbent electrolyser companies. - Stage of Development

Partner Sought
- Expected Role of a Partner
-
They are seeking the following partners, under commercial agreement with technical assistance:
Hydrogen end user companies, that need or currently use hydrogen onsite, that currently make hydrogen via fossil fuels, or buy in hydrogen from the market, and want to make their production via renewable energy.
Renewable energy provider companies, that want to move from selling 'green electrons' to selling 'green molecules', where Hydrogen is the base component.
The partner in the project will ideally be one who can organise the deployment of a complete green hydrogen infrastructure project. This will involve siting the electrolyser both to a renewable asset and an off taker. The UK company’s offer would be technical expertise on the core element of the project, the electrolyser, and assisting organising the siting, safety cases, and upstream
requirements of the electrolyser system. Additionally this collaboration will help ascertain the economics of the green hydrogen projects. - Type and Size of Partner
