General information
- Short Summary
- This UK-based SME has developed a product enabling senior leaders to identify where they have organisational trust problems, utilising a quickfire survey and providing results as an anonymised real time "heatmap" indicating problem areas, the benefit being early intervention. The Proof of Concept needs real world business users as development partners, to take it to a marketable product through usage and feedback on functionality and appropriateness. The system is industry agnostic.
- Full Description
-
The Cambridge-based company aims to combat the pervasive and growing issue of trust deficit within large organizations, spanning corporate, public, & NGO sectors. The 2 co-founders and Board have extensive experience in operations, corporate consultancy, leadership development & software development respectively in large companies. Drawing on compelling evidence (Edelman Trust Barometer), highlighting a significant decline in trust within organisations, the Company recognizes the strategic and competitive advantage inherent in fostering trusting internal relationships, cultivating trustworthy leadership, and building a trustworthy company culture.
The Company's research reveals that senior leaders are acutely aware of the pain points stemming from trust-related deficiencies. These challenges manifest in client retention & growth, talent acquisition & retention, heightened client demands, technological disruptions, regulatory complexities, employee wellbeing, & burnout and often translate into tangible symptoms, including frustration, exhaustion, employee disengagement, diminished productivity, communication & alignment breakdowns, quiet quitting, costly rework cycles, & customer attrition leading to revenue losses.
The co-founders have developed a unique system centred around an ongoing, real-time survey tool which utilizes frequent, short questions whilst ensuring respondent anonymity. Algorithms are designed to encourage continuous participation, providing timely and actionable results. To ensure efficacy and ethical integrity, the Company has engaged with academics specializing in business psychology.
The Company is seeking collaborative partnerships with organizations employing over 1,000 individuals to conduct beta testing and validate the product's effectiveness in real-world business environments. This beta phase will involve continuous product development based on both user feedback and observed user interactions.
Specific outcomes sought from beta testing:
Individual Users
• Automated collection of user experience metrics, i.e. login speed, responsiveness, & usability across various platforms
• Measurement of engagement with the software
• Assessment of users' perceived experience of interacting with the software
• Validation of the survey questions and their correlation with dashboard data
• Evaluation of the software's impact on users' wellbeing and their perceived link to "trust."
• Determination of the added value of the journaling feature
• Assessment of employee satisfaction with the non-mandatory nature of the software
• Evaluation of users' trust in the anonymity and privacy of the software
• Collection of user suggestions for improvements
Leaders
• Assessment of the heatmap's relevance to their specific business challenges
• Observation of any behavioural changes in leaders based on information provided by the system
• Evaluation of leaders' perceptions of results from team members' use of the software
• Assessment of the relevance and effectiveness of support provided by the supplier
• Evaluation of the ease of understanding the system's rationale
• Identification of any additional support needs
• Collection of leaders' feedback on the system
• Assessment of leaders' ability to envision the system's potential to positively impact the bottom line, given appropriate engagement rates
This beta phase will serve as a crucial springboard for future product development, with significant influence from development partners. With adequate funding the Company will be able to implement iterative development based on the insights gained. Specific timeline and scope of work will depend on participating organizations' level of involvement and their appetite for collaboration. Typically, the Company is looking for a 3-month engagement and would ask for ongoing feedback on an agreed framework and a weekly 1-hour leadership review. Development partners will be offered favourable commercial terms for continued use. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The Company’s Product differs to similar employee engagement products.
- Data is gathered and fed back in real time negating negative perceptions of discreet surveys that never get followed up and provides live feedback for a fast response when trust has been impacted.
- Dynamic questions vary so that individuals do not get repeat questions in a short time and are targeted to be sent to users where and when they are most likely to respond. This makes the survey feel more engaging and less of an overhead.
It is anonymous hence why the Company is approaching potential partners with a minimum cohort of 1000. Individuals get feedback on their well-being /sentiment whilst leaders get a heatmap of potential organizational trust challenges, aggregated business segment by business segment, without seeing individual responses. They can ask targeted questions to refine understanding of the situation without anonymity being impacted.
The Company’s system is the first that they are aware of that links organizational wellbeing to trust, without reliance on psychometric tests. Trust is a strategic advantage for business and effectively acts as the oil in gearbox to make things happen. The absence of trust is a major organizational derailer and has been highlighted by a few experts including Patrick Lencioni - The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. The absence of trust will directly trigger the pain points and symptoms highlighted above. The uniqueness of the product is down to the way that the data is handled, preserving integrity and anonymity. The output of the product benefits employees and leadership.
The Company is looking at new features that benefit the employees. They have so far resisted AI inclusion for functional algorithms, but it can be used for data analysis and aggregation. There is still nervousness about AI use in certain quarters and as the Company’s product’s core outcome is building trust they have declined to use it so far. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
- The Company would prefer partners who use IT and web apps with all or the majority of their staff as a matter of course as it will help with onboarding and adoption.

Partner Sought
- Expected Role of a Partner
-
The Company’s ideal partner would allow them to engage with their staff to test their product. It would be better if they were willing to (perhaps in time) integrate the Company’s system with their existing IT infrastructure. If they have multiple departments, regional or country offices, that helps, but not having multiple offices would not be a barrier. The request is not sector specific, but areas where the partner may have significant clusters of people working together would be an advantage. The Company will provide the necessary support and guidance through integration and implementation, including guiding leaders on how to deal with the data.
The Company is looking for both product testers and long-term collaborators. The latter will depend on whether collaborators like the product and want to invest the time with the Company. - Type and Size of Partner
