This Ukrainian university department specializes in the development of financial models and policy instruments for sustainable economic transitions. As part of the country's leading higher education institution, it plays an influential role in shaping economic reform, ESG frameworks, and data-informed policy design.
The department is looking to join an existing consortium preparing a proposal under the Horizon Europe topic HORIZON-CL6-2025-01-CIRCBIO-06: Indicators for the transition to sustainable and circular economy.
Key areas of expertise and assets offered:
-Financial and economic indicator design at micro and meso levels (companies, municipalities, financial institutions)
-Large stakeholder access in Ukraine: active collaboration with Ministries (Economy, Environment), 15+ municipalities (Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro), 20+ banks and financial institutions, and 500+ businesses
-Applied research on regional transitions from carbon-intensive models to green and circular models (e.g., experience from Horizon 2020 TIPPING+ project)
-Strong academic-policy interface: over 20 years of advisory support to Ukrainian government
-Experience in governance structures and multi-level indicator implementation across post-socialist regions
The department is ready to contribute to:
-Designing circular economy indicators adapted to financial institutions, SMEs, or local governments
-Piloting monitoring frameworks in Ukraine with real stakeholders
-Supporting communication, policy alignment, and dissemination in transition economies
-Bringing the voice of Eastern European partners and moderate innovator regions into the project
