General information
- Short Summary
-
SME from the Basque Country (north of Spain) specialized in the application of cutting-edge technologies in training for the industrial sector, has likewise developed the first European platform that uses VR to enhance the work of health, safety and environment trainers.
The Basque company together with a German university are looking for a German partner to submit a joint EUROSTARS proposal in the next September call. The type of cooperation envisaged is that of a research agreemen - Full Description
-
According to recent statistics from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), it is estimated that around 2.5 million occupational accidents occur each year in the EU in the industrial sector, with a significant impact on the health and well-being of workers and on the economic costs for companies and society
These accidents, often caused by unsafe conditions or lack of proper training, highlight the crucial importance of implementing effective prevention measures and occupational health and safety training
VR has proven to be a valuable tool as it provides an immersive and realistic environment where workers can safely practice risky situations and learn safety protocols interactively. These virtual simulations allow employees to gain practical skills, improve their awareness of hazards, and practice emergency responses, thus reducing the risk of occupational accidents
The project general objective is to develop an integrated system that combines virtual reality technology with passthrough to adapt occupational safety and health (OSH) training simulations to real industrial environments, aiming to enhance the effectiveness and relevance of occupational safety training
Technological objectives involve the implementation of an advanced passthrough interface, optimization of automatic adaptation algorithms and the integration of advanced tracking and synchronization technologies
Other specific objectives for Consortium organizations include the development of an Innovative Solution, expansion of market reach and service diversification, improvement of competitiveness and sector differentiation, encouragement of strategic partnerships and generation of new business opportunities
The idea is to work jointly with the German partner in the development of the integrated system under a research agreement - Advantages and Innovations
-
Passthrough technology offers seamless integration of virtual elements into real environments, allowing
workers to experience risky situations with greater realism and precision
By providing an overlay of digital information in the physical environment, OSH training programs become more immersive and effective, enabling better understanding of safety protocols and more realistic practice of emergency procedures. Additionally, passthrough technology facilitates the adaptation of VR simulations to specific industrial environments, maximizing the relevance and utility
