General information

Short Summary
A Greek-led consortium is preparing a proposal under the PRIMA 2025 call, TOPIC 1.3.1 – Transforming Mediterranean Food Systems, with the aim of promoting the Mediterranean diet among children and teenagers across the region. The consortium is seeking French higher education institutions, universities, or research institutes with expertise in nutrition, dietetics, healthy food education, or behavioral sciences related to dietary habits.
Full Description
MED4YOUTH is a multidisciplinary project designed to promote the adoption of the Mediterranean diet and the consumption of organic products among children and teenagers across the Mediterranean region. Recognizing the alarming rise in childhood obesity and the erosion of healthy dietary habits, this initiative responds to an urgent public health issue.

The project employs a multi-phase approach that includes baseline assessments, development of educational content, pilot interventions in schools, and large-scale dissemination. MED4YOUTH leverages the proven health and sustainability benefits of the Mediterranean diet—rich in plant-based foods and healthy fats—to foster positive behavior change in young people. The interventions are interactive, culturally adaptable, and built around digital tools, gamification, and living labs.

The consortium includes experts in nutrition, agriculture, pedagogy, and digital innovation. It aims to raise awareness, improve nutritional literacy, and increase long-term adherence to healthy eating practices among youth, while supporting EU goals on food systems, health, and sustainability.

The Greek-led consortium seeks collaboration with a French higher education institution or research center that has proven experience in nutrition or related domains such as human dietetics, food and health education, or behavioral science related to dietary habits. The selected partner will be actively involved in different stages of the project, including the co-creation of educational and promotional materials, implementation of school-based activities, delivery of workshops and presentations, training of educational staff, participation in data collection and evaluation processes, and contribution to dissemination and communication efforts at both national and EU levels.
Advantages and Innovations
MED4YOUTH offers a novel, youth-centered approach to promoting healthy eating by combining nutrition education with digital tools, gamification, and hands-on activities. Its strength lies in delivering culturally adaptable and engaging content that resonates with children and teenagers across the Mediterranean. Unlike traditional campaigns, it emphasizes behavioral change through interactive learning and active participation. The project is aligned with key EU strategies, such as the Farm to Fork Strategy and the European Child Guarantee, and aims for broad scalability through open-access resources and evidence-based methods. Its interdisciplinary and replicable model makes it a strong candidate for sustainable, long-term impact.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
The consortium is seeking a higher education institution, university, or research institute in France with expertise in nutrition, dietetics, healthy food education, or behavioral sciences related to diet. The ideal partner should have experience with youth-focused educational interventions, content development, and school-based programs. Familiarity with EU-funded projects and the ability to support evaluation, training, and dissemination activities is highly desirable.
